  1. I know it is a no no but why? They are in two separate cages side by side now. If I get them together on a play stand and they are happy will that be a sign that it would be OK to put them together.

    Outside ???

Thanks all for your input. I will try and leave her out tonight while I am home and see if anything goes wrong. I will roll her cage into the lanai and cover. The sitter knows birds and has been around this bird but no matter how much she is around someone-anyone she will not go to them without a fight. I think to leave her in her sleep cage the whole time would be too cruel it is just big enough for her to stretch her wings and move around some but not for a long time. Lu

    Outside ???

Lindamary, I live in Hawaii,(no snakes).Sitter is staying in my home. She is in her big cage outside all day as we sit outside on the lanai too.The cage inside is just a sleeping cage not to big. Sometimes we are out till very late and she stays out with us so she is used to the dark. I'm worried about her getting so scarred being there alone and also wind and temp. She is 1yr. thanks, Lu

    Outside ???

Hello all, I have a problem that could effect my birds health. I must leave her with sitter for a week. I am thinking about leaving her outside in her big cage the entire time even at night. I know, it's scarry. I live in a tropical place no cold nights. Here's the problem as I see it. She will NOT go to anyone else. I have been trying to stick train her but she won't even go on the stick for me. Her flight cage is big so it would be real hard and stressful to catch her with biting envolved. She is just getting flight feathers and I really didn't want to cut them but will if need be. What harm do any of you see in this? I can get a cover for the cage at night. It is 2 feet off the ground (varments) Thanks, Lu
  6. Thanks to all, I am not seeing her pluck she seems to preen all over. She was fully checked before coming over her by a vet so I'm hopeful it is just molt.
  7. Hello everyone, I'm freaking out. I woke up this morning to find "Baby" (1 yr) had a bare spot on her throat. Pin feathers are visable. I have thought she was molting before as I have down everywhere. But we just moved to Hawaii and I have been worried about the stress of the flight over here on her. Question; Do greys go bald when moulting? How can you tell pluck from moult?

    Palm nuts.

Does anyone know if just regular palm nuts off my backyard palm tree are OK?? I am a bit afraid to just give my bird something that might be toxic.
