Sorry to hear you have to find new homes for your babies. Wish you luck on finding good home, I have to many animals right now. However, I'm sure you will find someone, just have to look real hard. Make sure you give them to someone who knows a lot about birds and can provide the right care for your bird.

This is place for all women to talk about whatever is bothering them, or whatever topics they wish to speak to other women about. Go ahead share your thoughts:)

Well if its really bad, you would put some like plastic mat or sort of safe glass up on the wall, and nail it where ever the bird is the most. As for cleaning it off, i know magic easers does pretty good job with almost anything, then just soapy water sometimes might work.

vaya_the_elf replied to watchout's topic in The GREY Lounge
Looked into one of those, Looking to either upgrade my Grey or Quakers carrier, want them to have whatever is best, whenever I get the money to. They really neat though, some of the ones they have now.B) As for prices I just shopped around online, I know windycity or whatever its called was pretty good with prices. -
Know what you mean with vet bills, do that with my parrot as well. Ask your vet for advice about what you should do, and if there are cheaper ways of treating her.... As for rehoming her I would do that as last resort, sometimes birds pluck feathers not due to medical reasons but to more emotional. If you do rehome her, take your time, make sure its very good home for her, and they are well educated with parrots and will give her medical needs she will need. Wish you luck, hope you find a way to keep her

My grey loves her dice bell toy. She has had it for very long time. She also loves foot toys, and musical toys My Quaker on the other hand loves only one toy really, its his shiny basic bell toy, looks kind of boring, some reason she loves that thing, and never likes parting with it. Toys you might want to try are musical, things help with forging, and I know 8 beaks has really good toys, all kinds as well. There is also educational toys out there, if you are willing to shop online there are so many to choice from. I know my grey loves things that are bright colored, can be shredded, or can be throw around.

lol That is to funny, does she do this even when others are around as well? I hand fed her when she was baby, so I know we have very close bond.
-
lol thats funny your quaker does it. My quaker has not done anything like that yet, he does love his head petted. My Grey I would hope is does not think of me as her mate since we are both females.. lol
-
thank you for telling me this, you have eased my mind a lot. She is very dear to me, so always worry whenever I see something new or changed. She is acting fine by all other means.

Love playtop cages, that what my parrots have as well, its so fun watching them play on it. Happy you found good cage for your baby:)

thats funny, thought I read somewhere that they only did that when there older, and it males. Guess read the wrong information or something... Thank you! Probably still tell her vet just in case. Do you think thats what problem was?
-
Well when she did it, I was holding her, and gave little kiss. Then she opened her mouth couple times, and closed it, then spit up tiny little pellet. She did this twice, only when held her. So I guess thats it. Do they do that all ages?
-
Regurgating I think... Tell me the different between the two, i have read some about , thought only males did that
-
Very worried about my little grey, she is female who is almost two years old, will be pretty soon. Whenever i go in hte bird room and hold her she throws one or two times, only one pellet at time, only when i hold her. Does anyone have that problem as well? She went for last examine I think in January and they said everything looked alright pretty much. If anyone can help, I would be most grateful.
-
There is another thing that could cause it... maybe its to dark, just needs little more light or something, since its winter. I know I have to have light in my bird room or its to dark in there

My grey talks more then I do, and she is about two years old now. She says the following " Hello" " Hi'" " No" " Evening Star(her name)" " Step up" " Good girl" "bye bye" " Don't eat me" " Love you" " Love you lot" " I love you" " Thank you" makes the microwave sound, the fire alarm sound, and wolf sound Also tries to whistle Laughs and does few other things as well. Sometimes I don't fully understand what she said, or sometimes she she only says them one time, never again. She also meows like a cat Makes all kinds of funny sounds that I teached her.

Post edited by: vaya_the_elf, at: 2008/02/27 22:25

What do you use to clean your greys cage?
vaya_the_elf replied to vaya_the_elf's topic in The GREY Lounge
Baby wipes, never would have thought of that one. Thanks for site Lisa -
AS for pet store topic, I've worked at them for 3yrs in the past. They not all bad, there are some bad people who just don't care, only care about sales, just be very careful in where you chose to buy birds and other pets. It all depends on who you are buying from and who the sales person you are dealing with, just because they are manager does not mean its any better. Some people will do anything for a sale, use to get in trouble for tellign to much information, becasue people seem to not want to hear, or would change their mind. Just be careful!!!

First off greys every emotional. Many things that can cause this, for little bit give her some space, but maybe just talk to her without handling her at the moment until she is calm. Everyone has bad days, I believe animals do as well. However, if its longer then day or so, then I would start to think if anything is different or if there is anything else she is doing differently. Keep your eyes open. Somethings I know can make that way is one your grey is not gettins as much attention, is probably the number one things to do it. Or moving your grey to new spot or moving other things in the room. Other things it could be is if she is not getting enough sleep for whatever reason. Or if you feel stress your grey knows this, or someone else in your family that is. All these things can't be it then it might be medical, so its important to tell any changes to your vet.
