He gets bathed with water out spray bottle sometimes with some aloe vera juice every few days for as long as ive had him and is on a very good diet etc so this is very out of the blue really. How can I get my parrot to come to me?
proddytheparrot replied to proddytheparrot's topic in The GREY Lounge
as we both work 9 till 5 we realy cant trust him to be left out alone as last time he torn all the wall paper and flown into the window blinds.when we do come in thou he gets out till about 10pm on his playstand and seems to enjoy himself.proddy always talks and shouts and seems happy.when i give him a treat by hand i ask him what do you say?..he will then say hello(we are working on it to teach him more).he just seems unsure to step onto my hand or let me rub him even through the cage.hopefully 1 day thou:) -

thank you. just tryin 2 find an avian vet in glasgow (scotland) but its looking hard.should i change his diet and see if it changes?.in the morning before we go to work we make sure he has some fresh fruit.apples, grapes, cranberrys, dried bannana chips. when we come home at 5.30 we give him some treats like peanuts and dried fruit before his dinner wich varies like mashed sweeet potatoe with cooked frozen veg.but we do vary it every day. does that seem fine to yous guys?? thanks! -

Can anyone help? I was wondering how i can get my parrot to the vet to get checked out as he doesnt like being handled. I am quite worried as his faeces over the past few weeks have changed and today he done one which was almost black. Does anyone know what could be causing this as he is given a varied diet and looked after well. Thank You

Could anyone give me some advice? We have had our african grey parrot for a year and a half now and he still wont come and sit with us. Before we owned him he was looked after by an old couple who never really had much time for him. He wasnt being given any toys to keep him occupied nor was he given a varied diet. We take good careof him. He is now around 3 years old. Is it normal behavior of a bird that has previously been looked after by someone else to behave in this way or do we need to gain more trust from the bird?
