  1. Thanks! I have been removing them but have been fearful since everyone said that they will keep on laying them if you take them out. I will try to replace it with something similar looking. I just didn't want to do something that could cause her too much stress or make her feel the need to continue laying eggs. I'm not sure why she is dropping them from such a high distance anyway.
  2. I appreciate all the feedback I received on my first post about my African Grey laying her first egg. She laid her second one today. The common advice seems to be to let her sit on the eggs and not remove them from the cage but both of the eggs she has laid have been dropped from her perch and landed on the bottom of her cage and cracked. Any advice on this? Obviously, she doesn't try to sit on them or even pay much attention to the eggs. She will look at them and dance around them and go back up to the top of her cage and carry on as ususal. Do I remove them immediately or leave them? I guess its just a little different since both times they have been cracked! Thanks for any advice you might have!
  3. First of all....Thank you Dave!! I appreciate the information and advice. As to the question from MazyaK...Gidget, has been acting very affectionate today during and after the egg laying experience. I got her out of her cage for a while to play with her and make sure she was okay and she seemed very loving. She loves to nuzzle up to me with her wing and didn't mind being touched anywhere. Gidget seems to be pretty much back to normal now but she really seemed to want her head rubbed and was giving lots of kisses. Normally, Gidget can be pretty moody. I didn't even know what was going on with her when she actually laid the egg. She was perched on her food bowl making strange noises with her head down. I was was actually afraid she was sick or something and was rubbing her head when the egg fell out! I kind of hope this is the only egg she lays but I'm sure there will be more. I'll let you know if anything else interesting happens and if her behavior changes!
  4. I have a Congo African Grey who is about 13 years old now. Her name is Gidget (although we were never certain that she was female until now.) Anyway, today she was acting really strange and making an unusual sound so I rubbed her head for a few minutes and then noticed that her butt area was expanding. I thought something was wrong with her and before I knew it, an egg popped out and dropped to the bottom of her cage. Is this normal for an unbred bird? Will she lay more? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!
