  4. Our quaker seemed to know something was changing a week before our TAG came home. She picked up on her talking and activity. Sine our TAGs been home she will now talk to me to my face instead of waiting till my backs turned. Could be the cage BTW.
  5. Hello We brought Sam home last Thursday and have been very busy since. He was a little bit nippy the first 2 days but at least he doesnt break the skin lol. Anyway he stopped the biting and seems to be bonding quickly with us. He is a little pig... He munches on pellets and cereal all day and when its time for formula he pigs out. I fill his crop up each feeding. We have also been feeding him peanuts and veggies. The breeder said me might regress a little bit after coming home. The vet gave him a clean bill of health and he is very playful. He is very vocal which is something i dinna expect. He has said some words already and is starting to cat call whistle when i leave the room. He starts that as soon as my quaker does. He has said drink, hungry, wassup and uh oh. He picked up UH OH when he dropped paper he was chewing on and i said it. He is also picking it up from the quaker. He will also wink when i wink at him lol. Now all my birds can wink. He is very eager to please. His issues are few but expected. He wants to go to my shoulder and from there climb to the top of my head. He can bite pretty hard but not usually by the tip of the beak. I mention the word bath and he runs and refuses to get on my finger. At least i can clean him with a wet paper towel :cheer: He knows what NO and STEP UP means already. Nothing i cant handle. Anyway i will upload some pics when i get a chance. peace
  6. judygram wrote: Haha maybe B) One might hear me say that or worse when i deliver a parcel to the wrong house or when i get flagged down for someones railroad retirement check. Walmart boxholders are the worst though. This is our first grey. We think after fussing after with quakers for years we are ready. Sam is the leader of the pack at the breeders house. The BG in the pic acts like a mother figure toward Sam. Notice how she is shielding him lol. You cant see it but there is another CAG just out of frame. Our blue quaker is a very well behaved and mellow. She is very friendly talkative. She can say about 20ish words and has a big list of mimics and whistles. She is 1 year old. Our keet says a few words and whistles. He has a great personality for a store bought bird. And believe it or not they actually get along. Our first quacker was a wild caught green. He turned out well and was a great talker. Im going to finish feeding out Sam myself. He is down to one feeding now so it shouldn't be long. Sam likes cheerios, banana chips, frozen veggies, zupreem and other goodness. He is very cuddly and loves strangers. He has a n outgoing personality. Thanks for the welcome everyone

    Ear Biting

little green chicken seems like it might be tasty i have to admit In all seriousness though... This is like the 2nd thread i have read since joining. Was it a joke or serious? I think it was serious because i don't see any indication of a joke. Anyway i disagree with SOME of the methods and "rules" that most people use with their birds. I'm not saying they are bad i just have a different way that seems to work best. When i had my first bird i did not use the internet to research them like most did. I can say that abuse has never been our way.... Do people really smack birds? Seems unthinkable
  8. Hello New member here saying hello I live in Portsmouth Ohio. I have 1 blue quaker and a yellow keet. I have 10+ years experience with quakers both green and blue. Our grey comes home this Thursday the 20th! We have had a great experience with being able to visit our baby Timneh on a regular basis and with our breeder. Sam is our tags name and is doing very well with step ups. He seems to be very vocal and willing to talk. I credit that to the breeder as she gives excellent care and stimulation. Anyway we are very excited and ready for our new fid to come home. Sam is the darker grey on my portrait. He is the one holding/hording the banana chip lol.
