  1. Hi and thanks for the reply... Well, I've only NOTICED him doing it in the past month or so. Where I've seen him do it is - on the couch by the window where his window perch is, there's a little towel type thing underneath his perch (to catch his poop so it doesn't ruin the couch). I've noticed him munching on dry pieces of poop that are there. It's not every day mind you, but still. At the bottom of his cage I am not sure if he's done it. I know he rummages for stuff he's dropped sometimes through the grill, but I've never seen him eat poop there, although he may have. Anyway, I am starting now to shake his perch towel off every day and wash it more frequently than I need to to discourage the poop eating. Yucky!
  2. I must admit it was quite unappetizing to see Zeus (my Congo) munching on a few pieces of poop off of the couch that I'd missed. He gets a good diet and I am not sure what this is all about. He doesn't do it all the time, but it's really gross. Is this normal? Is he lacking something from his diet that is making him eat poop, or is this a normal (albeit gross) behaviour? It's so yucky though. I can't imagine eating my own poop, lol! :pinch:
  3. Hah! So funny. We call this Demon-heading. Zeus does this whirly fast scary head thing when he is playing. It looks like that part in "The Exorcist". It's usually accompanied by low growly excitable weirdy noises. Er, or maybe our bird is just strange, lol.
  4. I know, I was on youtube watching my updated subscriptions and heard about this, how horrible. My darling lovebird Kobe Azuli flew out the door once, he had never shown any interest before so I know how heart wrenching it can be. Hope you find her! xoxoxoxo
  5. Zeus does this too, but he always just drops all the pieces onto the floor...
  6. Yeah, he tries to fly but he falls to the floor like a deadweight, poor baby... Not exactly graceful, my poor grey chicken, lol...
  7. I even posted it as a note on my facebook page.
  8. Hi all, just wondering how long it takes for wings to grow back after being clipped? Zeus's previous mommy clipped his wings (which I will never do) and he really clearly wants to fly, and it upsets me that he cannot. I think his wings were clipped about 2-3 months ago - yet, when he attempts flying he drops to the ground, poor clumsy grey chicken!
  9. Aww, Zeus says he agrees! I had him on my shoulder the whole read and gave him a big snuggle and kisses and of course, head scratches...:side:
  10. All my birds love sugary juice. Like Fruitopia... They smell it and come over and beg. I give them a bit, but don't drink sugary drinks all the time anyway since it's not healthy, yet tasty... I also give them real pineapple juice, no sugar added, they love that too and I think it's healthier...:woohoo:
  11. Here is the link to his first video. tooooooooo cute! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At4MHmzwUmk
  12. Thanks! How do I post videos on here, I took one of Zeus and his bathtime yesterday. It's really really cute, he says WOOO and does a wolf whistle at the water!
  13. Hello and thanks for the well wishes! Zeus is my Grey, he was named that when I got him and I felt that changing it would be mean. Besides, it suits him and he's a very regal boy. I just got him a couple of days ago and have taken some pics, I'll make a point to upload them tonight... Currently in our household we have Zeus, a Lovebird named Spring and a Green Cheeked Conure named Chiku Verde. Chiku and Springy get along, although Spring bosses Chiku around. We also have 2 pets we adopted from the shelter, a bunny named Snowy and a cat named Onyx. I think we have quite enough pets for now. When we have *real* children it will be a breeze because caring for all of this crew is like dealing with a bunch of infants and toddlers, sometimes they can be brats! ((But I wouldn't change it for the world)). Zeus is my first "large" parrot, but I've been looking into them and wanting one for a couple of years. I didn't want to force it though, and wanted to get some experience with smaller parrots first. And when Zeus's circumstances came along, well - it just fit perfectly! Again, thanks for the welcome and I have tons of questions which I'll post in the appropriate forums. ~Sarah & the Flock~
  14. Hi all, just joined! Just got my first baby Grey yesterday. He's a Congo. Actually he'll be a year old this month, it's his second home - but he's going to be spoiled and loved. He currently only says WOOOO when he sees stuff he likes thusfar, but he copies a few things. I'm going to work on training him, but first, just let him get used to us first. Anyway, just saying hi! ~SaraH~
  15. Welcome! Actually I saw your videos on youtube, too cute!
