  1. I have done both drove and flown both my African grey Mozart and Severe Macaw Rainbow(.Being that your baby is so young, you shouldn't have too much of a problem driving. I used pet carriers modified with a size apporpriate wooden perch. Mozart loves to travel and must be able to look out the window, he doesn't eat much during the journey. I offer fruits and veggies and whatever I am eating when we do a rest stop. My Rain is the total opposite! She must be kept covered and will eat anything I offer her. If you are planning a hotel or motel stay, go on line to find pet friendly places. There are quite a few that do. If flying, you will have to get a health cetificate from your vet. I put stickers on their carriers informing that yes they do bite and to keep fingers out of reach. This usually doesn't stop the curious and I have had to block a few nips. Call the airline or check their website for their requirements for in cabin or underneath storage(no they aren't put with the luggage;) Hope this helps
  2. Bite Me club, I started this one YEARS ago:laugh: Let's start with my Mozart. First you should know My Brother-in-law adopted him from a young man whose landlord didn't want pets. So home he came, bonded and secure with my brother-in-law, I thought maybe Mozart would let me get close too. So I started standing next to his cage talking,He has a great vocab. He would call my name, ask me what I'm doing, soon he would call to me to come over for a "kiss"B) Well..... Yes he drew blood:evil: Did this stop me from repeated this? It took nearly 13 years of bribes before Mo allowed me to touch and to hold him B). I also Have Rainbow a Severe Macaw who is thinks her little love bites are the best:evil: We could be playing nice then BAM!:woohoo: Then there is Snapper my cockatiel who's favorite pass time is pecking my head! I could go on for days. I don't let my big babies on the shoulder, keeping them down shows them they aren't in control.:silly: When you are eye level with them they think they are the boss. Did you ever notice those pirates and their eye patches??
  3. I don't have a digital camera. I don't have a computer at home and gadgets aren't my thing.: I'll have to get my niece to take some pics. Mozart doesn't like to pose, but Rainbow is a ham.:side:
  4. What a sweetie! Good luck with herB)
  5. Thank you all for the warm wwelcome:lol: Yes I do have quite the flock! All of them have their own personalities and habits:S I sure I'll find this site very helpful.
  6. Hi All, if you read my profile it tells you how much of a bird person I am. How I was adopted by all these babies it rather bizzare.:silly: All but one budgie (Fusspot)and Snapper my cockatiel came from my Sister. When she had to move down south I took in the lovebirds. Missy the budgie came from her daughter in law. She didn't realize How "messy" Missy could be!:pinch: Snapper was an escapee. A good friend was sitting outside and He walked up to him. Unfortunitly, I had just lost my Congo grey, Fortune, A female from an infection, she was only 3 years old. I was being stubborn and refused to take this stray bird in. Well to make a long story short, I finally gave in and after much soul searching went over to pick him up. The first thing the little bugger did was SPIT at me:evil: Hence his name Snapper. That was about 14 years ago. Mozart and Rainbow are with me because my sister's health isn't good. She adopted Mozart when he was not a year old and Rain since a hatchling. I have loved them spoiled them and was very happy to bring them back to New Jersey. My apartment is very cramped and noisy! But as you all know there isn't anything to compare to the love these beautiful smart pigarrots give us. At least I know growing old won't be lonely:blink:
  7. Thanks for all the replies!B) I have tried many times over the years to get Mozart into the shower. He doesn't like to be "told" what to do. :woohoo: When we put the shallow dish in his cage, well lets just say it wasn't a big success:S As forgetting pictures of him bathing.... I need to get a downloadable camera. Gadget person I'm not. Just about deal with regular e-mails:woohoo:
  8. We all have funny stories about our Birds. My Mozart likes to take a bath in his water dish:P Not everyday mind you. I have tried showing him the sink, put a contain large enough for his butt...yet watching him try to fit his body in his bowl is beyond funny:kiss: The river of water, everything soaked and I mean everything within a foot of his cage. The look on his face afterwards is priceless. Yet most every article I have found states Greys don't like water!

    Overeating?

My Mozart (20 years old) will try anything! maybe should have named him mikey. I agree with monitoring his weight. I have more problems with My Severe Macaw, Rainbow, what a picky eater she is. If it is a wet food, Say macaroni, holding it is out of the question:evil: Just remember, keep your baby's diet varied, lots of veggies, noodles, apples etc. Have you tried "Pretty bird" diet? It's multicolored shapes are fun food. I also give my babies cheerios or any not so sweet cereals. Good luck with your baby
