1. Thanks everybody - I finally used up all my birdie "allowance" and went to town at the Perchstore online. Christmas part deux in a few days when the package comes!!!
2. I'm counting down too Hannah-Rae! I've got 7 days left until we bring our baby CAG home. I also have trained my dogs (not using clicker, actually, though I might start) and feel pretty comfortable using the similar, positive reinforcement methods with my future grey. I think the key is patience and consistency. At least birds don't "jump up" and get strangers all muddy!
3. ha! If I could have the 4 parrots the cleaning would be worth it, I think!
4. Judygram, I've seen a few like yours as well -- you like the split top with half a playtop and the other half a dome? It's a nice compromise and then the playtop isn't so high I can't reach it. Hmmmmm:huh:
5. Thanks! I looked at all the pics and it seems there is a range of cages out there - though your set up seems to take the cake!! I'd give my eyeteeth for a bird room... maybe when I'm done with vet school and move back to CA we'll get a bigger place. In the meantime, I'll keep cage searching....
6. Wouldn't sexing just be so much easier if they did have a phallus though!
7. Hi gang -- I'm in the market for a new cage (getting my baby Atticus in just about a week  :woohoo: ) and I would *love* some advice! Question 1 - Playtop vs. Dometop. I lean towards playtop but I also have a play stand - so do you guys think the dome is better for them because it allows more space when he's in the cage? Question 2 - Corner vs. Rectangular cage. The corner cage has more room but ... I don't know. Rectangular cages are more common so is there a reason for that? The cage size is the most important thing, I know... it'll be either 36-40" in length, and I plan on getting a cage from a reputable company that's sturdy and safe. I just can't seem to make up my mind about the playtop/dome/corner thing. THANKS!!! hilary
8. Wow! Fantastic! Thanks for all the great suggestions! The holiday season has officially started. Why is it that whenever I need to do some christmas shopping I end up spending as much on my birds and dogs as I do my human loved ones?!
9. Thank you everyone! We feel loved I should have more baby photos in a week or two so I can post more... because who doesn't love baby pics right?
10. Yes, I plan on it! I would like to have a bird/dog/cat ratio of 33/33/33... that would be absolutely ideal! The world really needs more large animal vets (ie cows and llamas etc) but I'm selfish and love birdies and doggies too much. And of course gotta work on those loans. Only a year and a half to go!
11. Hi all, We're bringing home our baby CAG in January and I'm doing some online shopping for him in the interim. Before I buy swings, toys, etc, I thought I would ask the experts if anyone has suggestions for the best online bird stores? ie. great quality stuff for reasonable prices? Thanks in advance for the tips!
12. Yes I'm sure the month will fly by, esp. being the holidays. And I'm finishing up final exams in vet school - always grateful when they're over. I'll be even more grateful when I'm out of school!
13. And one more pic....

Post edited by: HilaryQ, at: 2007/12/10 02:42
14. THIS JUST IN! Our breeder just sent us some new pics of our baby Congo, who we've decided to name "Atticus." He's just so darling I had to share. We won't be bringing him home for another month... but we can't wait!

Post edited by: HilaryQ, at: 2007/12/10 02:38
15. Alright I officially am terrible at uploading pictures. I've tried twice now! Maybe it's something about that particular picture of our baby CAG.

Post edited by: HilaryQ, at: 2007/11/30 21:39
16. Yes, we are SO excited and thank you for the warm welcome! We currently have two aussie shepherds and two tiels so we're critter friendly around these parts. I have some baby photos of my little baby courtesy of his breeder .. I think it's uploaded below. He's about 5 weeks now, little red stub of a tail coming in! So cute. We're still deciding on names, as we just found out a few days ago that he's a boy (DNA sexed). We're pretty sure we're going to call him Atticus, but it's subject to change of course when we bring him home and realize he's actually a Magnus or something. I haven't met him yet but will as soon as we get the green light from his breeder!
17. Hi everyone, My husband and I are getting our very first grey baby the end of January and we're so excited! So of course I wanted to get online and meet other grey mommies and daddies. Are there any "wish I had" or "wish I hadn't" tips for when we first bring him home?? We'd love any advice Hilary and the fuzzy and feathered gang
