We have a HAPPY BIRD DAY party for Teko each year on November 7th.....which is soon......complete with African Grey looking cupcakes (grey icing, black jelly beans for the beak and eyes)...cute.

One packet is too much indeed. That's why I eat the rest:P
  3. Awesome outcome! You have the patience of a saint. You have a lucky grey. Teko screams sometimes too and we try to redirect his attention to something playful without giving any negative feedback. Thank you for updating us on the outcome. You are doing a great job.

I warm it up like I would do for myself. Teko loves the peaches n' cream kind......just as a treat, of course. I wouldn't recommend this for his daily diet.
  5. The main reason we went with Cages by Design is because the holes in the grates are 1 inch squares. My Mom's grey broke its wing in a standard cage that has the wide space in between the grates on the sides of the cage.
  6. It's plexiglass. I like it because it doesn't make him feel so "caged in". Teko likes to "rest" on the rock (these are not real rocks....they are faux rocks) when he doesn't feel like wrapping his feet around the perch. At night, Teko likes to be on his perch. It's during the day that he usually takes naps on the rock with one foot up (of course).
  7. Here is Teko's cage. We ordered it from Cages by Design. Highly recommend.

  9. I highly recommend Jane Norman from Crofton, Maryland. She hand feeds the babies IN HER HOME. This is where we purchased Teko two years ago. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Jane gets her babies that were bred from the world known breeder Jane Pattison, THE African Queen in Florida. Her greys are advanced weened and "step up" before they go home. Incredible breeder...I cannot say enough about her. 10. Another thought would be the parakeet and any other recent "change" to his environment (moving furniture, etc). Greys are very sensitive to their surroundings. I don't remember my grey or my mother's grey molting in this manner. Please keep us posted.
  11. Maybe he has an infection in his crop/throat. My mom's African Grey had this problem. Her grey plucked his feathers around his crop nonstop. The vet prescribed medication and he stopped and is all better now...with new feathers. Have you taken him to an avian doctor yet?

Correction: HE still gets agressive...not me LOL

What I have done is avoided having Teko get near my ears. He will fly and land on my shoulder but I will put my head down. This seems to be working out well for both of us. I have discontinued use of the spray bottle because, I agree with you, this is not nice even though his feathers could use the extra mist. I still gets somewhat agressive when he doesn't want to go "nighty night" but we are working with him on that. Most times we try to coax him in the cage with an almond or treat. I would welcome your thoughts on that. Thank you all (most of you) for your assistance.
