  1. Hi there, my grey is 18 weeks old.she makes a strange sqeeking noise after i have fed her via the bottle. I open the cage, she walks out and I feed her. She then squalks turns around and goes back into her cage. I take it she is full when she turns around and goes back inside her cage, but then she continues to squalk until I cover her for bed. Is this normal???
  2. My 18 week old grey, only eats selected fruits, dried banana is her favorite,
  3. Thanks, yes my arms are also torn to shreds. When I put her on my shoulder she always seems to go towards the neck and places her nails just above my tshirt on the skin.
  4. My grey is now 18 weeks old, I hand reared her from 5 weeks. I take her from the cage to the inside perch every day, she also jumps onto my lap and places her head on my chest, were i stroke her head, she make a strange chirping noise. I suppose that is her way of saying that she feels secure and happy. She also sits on my shoulder and nibbles my ear softly. Are most Grey's at this age soo tame. The only problem is that she bites the kids and my wife sometimes, but she never bites me
  5. Thanks jane. My greys nails are fairly long, and it becomes a bit sore when he digs in his nails
  6. start weaning him off the bottle, 3 feeds a day is way too much. I have a grey of 18 weeks and I am feeding her every alternative night on the bottle.
  7. My african grey is now 18 weeks old. When would I need to clip its nails? I have already clipped the wings
  8. Morning all My African Grey is 8 weeks old now - from 5 weeeks old. Feeding her 3 times a day, and I have placed fruit around the cage. She does not seem to be eating as much as 2 weeks ago (hand feeding). She has already climbed onto the 3rd rung of her ladder, exploring everything. She looks like a fully grown african Grey where 2 weeks ago she could not even climb out of her box. The pet shop owner gave me a bag of food for hand rearing parrots, he did say it would last 2 months. It has only lasted me 2 weeks. My baby Nikita has grown sooo much.
  9. Thanks all Her name is Nakita, I will post a pic soon. She is adorable. I am handfeeding her 3 times a day 6am,1pm,7pm I was told exactly what to do. how much to feed etc. I have a little bib which she wears when I feed her. She is starting to get used to her environment. Yesterday i had her on the bed with me and she walked to me and extended her neck and placed it on my arm and closed her eyes. Her feet are still too big for her body, but she is still getting used to them.
  10. Morning all I have just purchased a 5 week old African Grey Parrot. I am feeding it 3 times a day. when do I introduce it to solid foods? Do I need to provide it with water now? Thanks all
