  1. We picked up our new baby grey a week after 15 th september the day that Colin Mcrae and his son died in a helicopter crash. Being a rally fanatic, Ant, my Hubby (having met Colin once) we decided to call our baby Colin. B)
  2. That is probably the reason, lovemygreys. I am at home all day most of the time, my partner has been signed off sick since before Colin came to us so he's at home, then theres Lily my youngest who is home after 12 and my other two, so its quite noisy throughout the day here and he does get a lot of attention from everyone. I dread to think some of the things he could come out with...
  3. Although I do beleive in 'dont beleive evrything you read' I was quite surprised to hear him say this word as I didn't expect it quite so early. My step dad had a grey just over 2 years ago, this bird was absolutely mental when he first got him and it took my step dad around 6 months to get him to the stage at what Colin is at now. Max (bird) didn't talk until he was about 12 months either so my step dad was dis-beleiving and said 'they cant talk until their around 8 months, your heard him babbling' So Colin is talking....oh my gosh, isn't this where the fun really begins???
  4. I am a little confused here...Colin is 4 months old and yesterday he said a croaky 'hello' to me! Today he said a more pronounced 'hello' to my other half!!! I didnt think they talked until they were around 8 months old, or so all the books say so.
  5. Thanks for that. Reagarding palm oil, I know this is a cooking oil but how would i give this to my grey? Trickle it over his seed/nuts mix food?
  6. Hello all, after my introduction in the newbies area, I thought I would ask my first question. I am a little confused as to what Vitamins and/or supplements I am best to give my grey? I feed him on a seed/dried fruit mix and also fresh grapes and apple. I have tried him with chicken and cheese but he wont touch them at the moment, but i wont be giving up on these. For treats he has monkey nuts & sunflower seeds. I have bought some AVICLENS water purifier and put a drop of that each day into his drinking water. Someone has mentioned to me about liquid calcium, what is this for and do i need to use this? Also what about multivitamins? I want the best for my grey and want to make sure he gets all the best possible care. Thanks in advance Jacqui
  7. Hannah_Rae.. I remember when we went to initially pick our grey, needless to say, he picked me! We were so exited for him to come home with us, but his cage hadn't arrived at that point so we had to say hello and goodbye in 20 minutes! his cage arrived on monday and we were straight back at the breeders to pick him up, all the way home we were like 'what are we doing?' 'what have let ourselves in for?' we were exited yet very nervous. Colin is simply gorgeous, he is so cute you could eat him..ha ha. He was hand reared as a very young baby so he is cuddly tame now, but reluctant to do as he's told. We love him to bits already, Im exited for you...your going to have so much fun!!
  8. Thanks everyone for your kind comments and lovely welcome! Colin is certainly finding his feet now, he prefers to sit on either mine or my hubbys head instead of on his perch! We put him straight back of course, after about ten attempts he gets the message! Lol. I dont know alot about looking after greys but this forum is certainly helping me along nicely. He is very persistent in his demands but I am learning not to give in with him. I cannot beleive how much its like having a 2 year old running around again! Im forever watching him and telling him 'no!' But so rewarding!
  9. Hello all. I am Jacqui and 3 days ago, picked up our new little baby CAG. Colin is 15 weeks old and just the most adorable little thing ever! He is already very tame and loves nothing more than to have a head tickle in exchange for some kisses! The children all love him and he is excellent with them. My hubby calls him his 'little dinosaur' as he says he reminds him of the little baby dinosaur on the movie 'dinosaurs'...... Anyways, I hope me and colin will stick around for more information and advice!! Jacqui & Colin
