  1. Thats a bit ambitious Jamie, apart from talking to your grey there really is no knack in it.The only way i know how to teach them to respond to a question is by repeating the answer to them first.Once they have learned the answer you then have to try & get them to respond to the question !Heard you the first time is a mouthful for a parrot to learn Try something a little easier first
  2. That's great Jamie,he is obviously gaining confidence in you , keep it up
  3. Im sure they will have something to help you, good luck with the little fellow

  12. Hi EinsteinsM0M & Welcome to the forum We are glad you have joined us & look forward to hearing more from you.
  13. It's early days as Tarnold suggests let him settle in to his new environment, talk to him & reassure him.If you get worked up then you `will never make any progress. He is probably testing things with his beak, babies do this. Was your baby handreared ? Have a look around the Nursery room, there are some threads that may come in useful with your new baby.
  14. Sorry i am completely stumped, never heard of them :pinch: Try a search on the net,if you cant find anything then i wouldnt risk feeding them.
  15. Try a spray bottle, spray above her head & let the water fall over her.All greys are different some like cold water my gang prefere the water a little tepid/warm.You could also try a washing up bowl, fill with a little water add some of her toys & have a splash around yourself, she may want to join you
  16. If you have never clipped a parrots nails please dont attempt to,Inside every toenail is a blood supply, or "quick". If cut, this will begin to bleed and can be very painful. If they need clipping take her to the vet. Yes if you offer a varitety of different perches this should keep your parrots nails filed down,i have 4 greys & they have never needed their nails cut.A sandy perch is great for filing nails, but a variety of different textured perches will also exercise her feet.I see your in the UK, i have included a link so you can have a look http://www.24parrot.com/Parrot-Perches-C252/
  17. They all have different personalities, enjoy him as he is for now, later on he may well change & think he is number 1 He should be settled with you by now
  18. Congratulations Lauri,it sounds as if you have made wonderful progress, keep up the great job your doing there
  19. This is a similiar question,have a read.. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/85820-question-on-food.html
  20. {Feel-good-0002006E} I think he did Di,they are great photos, thanks for taking the time to share them with us
  21. Your paranoid Di No it appears monty is eating a varied diet, i have yet to hear of a grey that starved itself to death Some greys like their veggies etc raw,but mine wont touch them unless there served warm :pinch: As long as he has access to his food bowls throughout the day i wouldnt be to concerned.Perhaps try swapping the foods around, dont have set dinners, for example dont give him veggies the same time day in ,day out, keep him on his toes so he doesnt know whats coming
  22. Hi whiteflower welcome to the forum. I have included a link for you on hand - feeding http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73409-handfeeding-a-baby-grey.html ,please bear in mind that all babies are different & will vary in the rate to which they wean.Continue to offer the fruit & veggies, leave a bowl of pellets out alongside a bowl of water. As for eating people food, perhaps try some soft pasta, sweet potato mashed,a little scrambled egg, cooked rice etc,Try different ways of offering his veggies to him, mash them a little, perhaps serve a little warm. We have a nursey room please take the time to have a read through the various threads in there <br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2008/08/05 14:23
  23. Hi Drewgrey & Welcome to the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge on the site which will hopefully educate you for when the time comes for you to add a grey to your life
  24. What a fitting gesture spooky after Gullivers amazing story,i hope they will have photos up on the website
  25. If you reach up & offer your hand to your grey & at the same time repeat the command to "step up " to remove him from your head,im afraid they do tend to make a beeline for heads, just remove him every time he does it.
