  1. Here you go Trust,Freddie with a loo roll, loo roll has more than one purpose
  2. Ther's no reason he should, provide plenty of stimulating & foraging toys for him during the day,he will get into a routine
  3. sorry Christian i have visions of your grey sitting reading a book ! Well you could show him the card & repeat the answer, but it will take time of course for him to associate the two,but i dont see no reason as to why you couldnt achieve it
  4. The macaw is very demanding,my 4 greys live in their own bird room, they have each other for company + me so they have the best of both worlds, but Millie my macaw lives in the living room & like a young child demands attention,im in the process of teaching her to play independently but she dosent quite grasp that idea yet but she is only 5months so still very young in macaw terms
  5. No i wouldnt cover him in the travel cage It may cause him a little stress but once back home & a few favourite treats he will forgive you,as for the beak it should look after itself & not need trimming, greys rub the beaks on their perches etc.. & this keeps them in shape.Once the nails have been trimmed be sure to provide an array of perches, sandy, cement etc & this will keep the nails filed down
  6. Lyn here is a previous thread on chewing.. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/8824-feather-chewing.html#8898
  7. Ok bang goes my theory  Hey what do i know :pinch: Lyn have a look at this article i found.. http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww4eii.htm
  8. Lyn at this point in time you can safely rule out the egg laying theory,he/she is far too young. If he/she has just started to use the birdy bunk & the feather chewing started round about that time then i would say the two are linked, is he/she sleeping throuhout the night in this ?incorrect perching may be the cause of this.Is it possible to remove the birdy bunk & observe if there is any change/improvment in the chewing ?
  9. {Feel-good-0002006E} you best start running now Melissa, your mom is going to be after you
  10. Yes it appears our greys are a bunch of dunkers  the_mask86 i see this is your first post, why not pop in to our Welcome room & introduce yourself

  12. yes but those little furry balls grow up Trust You start with two,add two more, then move on to a macaw, well at least i did :pinch:
  13. Will your baby be sexed before you get to bring him/her home ? Isabeau is lovely for a baby girl
  14. Trust funny how the simplest toys end up more fun than the fancy ones i spend tons on new toys, but give my flock a loo roll & they look like they have won the jackpot
  15. Great picture,he looks like he is going to be a big boy if them feet are anything to go by
  16. Great pictures.Thanks for sharing.
  17. Sibylle It's a good idea to leave the TV or a radio on for your grey during the day Be warned choose your channels wisely as im sure he will pick things up from listening,Something like a cartoon channel is always a hit
  18. FairY Here is my bird room Judy was referring too, mine live in the room & are not caged, there is an aviary door that connects to my living room
  19. zooman if you still have your PVC stand you could always try wrapping vet wrap or rope around the perching area for him,it may be the texture, smoothness of the PVC he doesn't like.
  20. Great pictures, love the one of your daughter reading to Rexxy.
  21. Okey dokey Toni fingers crossed here

  23. As Dan said Jamie he is just checking things including you out with his beak
  24. Try breaking it up a little, "Harrison's is one of the best diets out there for birds today, it was formulated by an Avian Vet" Yes it is a good pellet but not all greys like them & there is alternatives out there for people to try, dont want to be seen to be bias to one brand
