Unfortunately beccy this ad is so typical of hundreds that are placed across the UK. It saddens me deeply

Mine have soaked pulses along with fruit. Somedays they have porridge made with water with a little natural honey or wholemeal toast.On other days they have a soaked tropical fruit mix in the morning & the pulses in the evening. They have veg everyday sometimes for lunch, sometimes for dinner/tea. They have access to their food allday & they tend to have their seed in the evening before they settle for bed. I think if you rotate things around Mojo will not get bored with the foods you give him, the same as us i'm sure they dont want the samething for dinner everyday

Nooey, was Mojo taught the step up command from the breeder ? I'm sure you are practising this every day with him as it is i feel one of the most important commands a grey should learn. Ideally you would like to open mojo's door & get him to step up onto your arm to come out,Can you try as you open the door holding a treat so Mojo doesnt fly at you. Show him the treat & try to get him to step on your hand/arm & reward him if he responds. I'm sure with practice & time he will be stepping up on command for you My two still sometimes nip a little to hard when i'm getting them out of the cage,They use their beak to feel if you arm/hand is stable enough to step on & that with the excitment of coming out, i know at times they just cant wait a minute

hi Zohair, There is never any guarantees by putting 2 birds together that they will bond & eventually mate. They need to adjust to their surroundings ,establish a relationship etc..3 days is no where enough time for this to happen, you need to be patient as this will take time. If the male is feeding her & she is visiting the nest box, this sounds encouraging but please do not expect to much from them as it is very early days. What age are you birds ?

LunaBaby As it's only on a temporary basis that you are looking after the Amazon, i would too keep them separate at least this way you will avoid any unnecessary stress to either bird

birdtown its sounds as if you bought your bird on impulse, if you truly want to keep the bird, then you can work around the migraines Greys are wonderful birds & need a lot of attention & your time & love. You need to be honest & tell us if you wish to keep the bird or re home it ? Then we can help you in the right direction.

Hi birdtown, 4 days is no time at all, My husband suffers from migraines & never has my Doctor suggested it is anything to do with our greys & we have three ! May i ask where you got the bird ? At 6 months to be passed onto another owner is stressful for the bird. I think you should really decide if you want this bird or the money ? Handreared babies can be purchased from breeders in the UK from £500 -£600, so why £700 ? I dont wish to appear rude, but i would be more concerened on finding the correct forever home for this bird.There are many UK forums where you could advertise him for sale if this the only option for you.<br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/21 23:05

Hi ubecrew610 good luck with finding a cage, please just remember to fully disinfect the cage with a good cleaning agent something like F10, as you never know the health of the previous occupant

Hi Slipper, Has Cofi got a bald patch where he pulls the feathers out ? The first thing i would do is to have Cofi see your avian vet to eliminate any medical problems.If he gets a clean bill of health then there are many reasons to consider as to why Cofi is plucking,which i think he is doing as it does not sound like a natural molt. The list is endless but a few possibilities are; Frustration from long periods in his cage Lack of mental & physical stimulation Change of family circumstances/ environment Incorrect periods of light/darkness A poor diet, high in fatty foods Attention seeking A vet visit first then we can hopefully offer you further advice.Please keep us updated on the situation.<br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/08/21 19:25

Sorry im not to sure Beccy, i would think it's best to grind it down just in case there are any sharp pieces I must admit i have never feed my greys the shell,i dont know why i just feel uneasy with it :unsure:
