I have some-what of a dilema. I am remodelling my house, and I'm to the upstairs hardwood floors. I'm wondering if the fumes from the laquore (sp?) would hurt the bird if she was downstairs. The upstairs would, of course, be venalated. The issue is that I do not have anywhere to go with my bird while I do this. It is only 1 room and a hall way, about 270 sqr feet.

My grey is about 10 years old. I got her six months ago, and she is adorable. Recently she has started plucking her chest feathers. Nothing changed in her diet. I recently moved her to a new cage, but about a month after the plucking first started. She's still as socialable as ever, talks to us and whistles non stop, she just won't stop plucking her feathers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Meeka is a happy bird, in good health! Vet check went well, the vet was impressed with how gentle she was. She has never bitten anyone since she's been in my care. She LOVES my girlfriend, much more than me; I'm grateful for this, because I'd rather they were close than distance at any cost. She doesn't talk to me as much, and always fly's off my shoulder after a few minutes. She's real minimal as far as how much she'll let me handle her. She makes a "whoop" noise every time I'm around, so she's communicating. Her previous owner of 10 years was a female and I think that may be part of the cause why she's more loving with my gf. What can I do to earn her affection?

To answer the question about the tail feathers I had to call my girlfriend. I'm color blind and can't really tell the difference, plus they're still kind of dusty. She said they were darker, but not like a deep maroon. Is there any way to tell for sure whether or not this bird is a hybrid?<br><br>Post edited by: boswell2k1, at: 2007/08/20 02:04

She's quite a chatter box. My girlfriend called me early and was talking to her, I could hear through the fine. I'm still in shock that this bird is this friendly and interactive the first day I brought her home.

Today I travelled from St. Louis to Ohio to pick up Meeka. I didn't have time to take pictures just yet because I had to leave right away for work, but my girlfriend should be emailing them to me soon. This bird is very pretty. The pictures I previously posted did this bird no justice. She was very dusty! As soon as I walked in, her owner picked her up and handed her to me. I was kind of shocked that the bird came right to me. My girlfriend handled her just the same. She didn't like the travel cage. It was a seven hour trip, and about 30 minutes into our ride home I got her out and she was playing on my lap for the remainder of the trip. I was very careful not to make her feel unconfortable. She let me pet her head and neck a few time. I do have a vet visit scheduled for this coming week. The owner said her last checkup was in 2006. Hopefully I'll have some pictures here in a little bit to share with you. Thank you everyone who provided me with tips prior to picking her up. We are very happy that we got her!

I'm definately buying this bird. I'll have a vet appointment setup right away. The lady is selling it because she doesn't have time to spend with it anymore. Can someone give me some advice as far as socializing with this bird right away? How long before I should attempt to handle it excessively? Thanks again, everyone. Thank you everyone for your support and advice. There is definately a lot of love for birds in this forum. Over the course of the week I have been asking a lot of questions, and requested more pictures and expressed my concern for the eye and health of this bird. The owner said she would send me more pictures, but has yet to be in contact with me for the last three days. If I purchase this bird it will be next weekend, and if I do not hear back from her soon I will call. I'm hoping she's busy and not avoiding these questions I have been asking her. I'm not sure what you mean by "hybrid?" I know the bird looks a little rough, I'm anxious to see what living conditions it was kept under. I heard it talking over the phone, so I know it's not isolated from it's owner. I think without any drastic measures I could rehab this bird back to a very healthy state.
