Your rottweiler is beautiful. Have you seen my boys on my profile? I have 2, Cain and Logan.

I just ordered one for Pryde. We don't really heat our house much and it gets cold, especially when no one is home and at night. I think she is going to appreciate it.

Ewok... although I like the name Dot.

This is the one I got for overnight trips and going to work: http://www.greyexpectations.net/Supplies.html A lot like the dog crate, but it has a bottom to keep the bird from getting to the paper below.

My bird stayed with her breeder for 10 days while I was away. The breeder said she was talking up a storm and clearly saying "pretty bird" and "hi". Figures her first words would be while I'm away. I still haven't heard anything but the wolf whistle and kissing sounds

I make malt-o-meal most mornings and give Pryde her own little bowl of it as well. She goes gagga for it!

Pryde hatched on April 14, 2007 I brought her home August 1, 2007

I looked all over Home Depot, while I found a lot of the smaller to larger connectors, I couldn't find any that were that small to that large, but I will look again. Maybe I will try Lowe's next time.

Well, I have to admit that when I first brought her close to it, she leaned way back on my finger, then flew off. I brought her back and she leaned back again, but stayed put. She would crawl up my arm instead of stepping up on the pvc. This all took about 5 minutes before she was sitting on it. She finally just fell asleep. She did wake up and play with the toy a bit. I expect that she will be more than happy to hang out and play there within a few days. The computer was ok because Pryde didn't know how to climb down
-
Close, but I was hoping to find them without the mounting screw. It looks like, in the one I pictured, that it would connect directly to a pvc pipe or connector.

Without the food cups, which I still need to finish, it was about $30. I didn't use any glue, I'm to afraid of anything toxic. With the twine tucked in the ends the joints are really tight. I'm trying to decide if I want the twine the remaining connections, it looks prettier, but not necessarily functional.

I do think it has to do with the volume of the house. If I am sitting quietly then the dogs and bird are usually quiet. If we have a loud movie going or if the dogs are playing and barking then Pryde usually joins in and starts trying to talk or whistle. She is making kissing noises now and the back half of the wolf whistle, but is only when the house is noisy. She also likes to practice noises in the car. Again I think it is due to the radio being on.

One morning Irene walked into the aviary. Alex was chanting "Long Yellow, Long Yellow". After pondering what he was trying to tell her for a moment, she remembered she had given him corn the night before, but hadn't given it a name. Knowing that there is that kind of comprehension inside all our birds little heads it quite amazing. They are only limited by what we fail to teach them. This is the most comprehensive site on Alex there is: http://www.alexfoundation.org/

I soak it in a little white vinager and then simply wipe away. Works great! Doesn't seem to harm the floors at all either.

Jason, Bourne, Rambo, Damian, Omen, Adolf, Bond, Dr. Evil I'll need to sleep on it for more

How old is Simon? They younger congos have grey on the red tail feathers. They will get brighter red as he gets older. As bright red as his tail is I would say he is a congo. What color is his beak? Congos have black beaks, while the timneh has more of a bone colored beak.

Pryde is doing pretty well with her toilet training, although she doesn't yet hold it, so I need to be diligent in getting her back to her cage. What I do is wait for her to poop, when she does I say Poop! and then take her to hang with me on the couch. I then pay special attention to the clock. After about 10 15 minutes of cuddling and watching youtube or tv I put her back on her playtop and say Poop! If she does she gets lots of praise and gets to come and sit with me again. If she doesn't she has to stay up there and entertain herself. I hope this helps!

Greys, Dogs, and other generalized questions.
Pryde replied to RobertsKitty's topic in The GREY Lounge
I have 5 dogs: a rat hunter, a rabbit hunter, a boar hunter and 2 cattle herders. So while none are bird dogs, per say, they are all very prey driven. The first few days were the hardest on the beagle, but she has finally been able to relax and even hangs out on the couch with us. She still hangs out under Pryde's cage, but now it is to eat dropped food. It is amazing how fast these food mongers learn where to get fed. Logan, one of my rottweilers, got an entire brussle sprout. An edible ball, best thing EVER! :silly: -
Well if it is too hot don't you think they would just not sit on it? I mean if you have plenty of other perches available...
-
It could be that he is starting to self regulate and loose a little weight before that first flight. If that is the case he will will start eating well again after he is flying.

I left Pryde for 24 hours. Granted we did have someone sleep here that night because of the dogs, but they didn't do anything with her besides watch movies in the room she is in. She didn't even seem to notice we were gone longer than usual.
