Glad to share that yesterday Petra said her first word (Hello). It was funny because my wife went to work with me and so did Petra, and she said it while riding in the car.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Petra is a 9 1/2 mo female who seems to be very upbeat and getting plenty of attention. I would like to get one more CAG to keep and they could hopefully enjoy each others company, plus it would give me another one. My wife so far has not agreed but if there are some proven benefits to this please share, as well as potential problems.

I have been keeping the thermometer set at 72-73 (It's cold in Kansas City). And I am a little hesitant to shower Petra often. My concern is that being wet and her not being warm enough. I gave her a shower the other day and I think I should do this more often. Any input is appreciated.

No water dripping but we have a parakeet and Petra mimics her chirping, only much louder.

Petra is now 9 months old, my first Grey. We have been anxiously hoping she will beging to speak. Since we got here at 3 months old, she quickly learned to copy all kinds of whistles. She has been meowing just like the cat for two months. She make all kinds of funny noises and I just wonder if this is a preface to here talking. She gets plenty of TV time when were not in the room and I hope this helps also. Also, originally we had her in the iving room and 3 months ago we moved her downstair in a family room, couch, tv, video games. Either me or the kids are always down there most of the time. So I think that is a good setting.

I took my CAG to the VET just after 5 months old. We found out today it is a girl. So we are changing the name from Pedro to Pedra

A couple months ago, my wife and I let our debate over getting a dog come to a head. She had stated several times she wanted to get a parrot. SO I finally took her up on it. I went to pet stores and searched classified ads. I almost bought a 20 yr old African Grey and just after I left the owner called and said he was sold. So I went home and checked the classified ads and called a breeder from Raytown Missouri. Sure enough they had one left and we went to their home and I picked up the newly weened African Grey. It was a neat experience and my wife came up with the name of Pedro. We stuck with it and took him home that night. We got him a big cage and then I read tons of info on how to care for him and he has turned out to be a wonderful addition to our home. He is 5 days short of being 5 months old and he is copying whisltes (Trying to on some) and we talk to him in hopes that someday he will talk back. He really takes well to me and two of my boys. He gets angry at my wife sometimes, especially when on my shoulder, but all in all I am extremely glad we got him (or her, I'll take to the vet in a couple weeks).

My African Grey is nearly 5 months old and I would like to know when they stop growing. Thanks
