  2. Thanks =] Another thung that worries me, at the last month Annie started to do something wired, she open her mouth like she gonna scream but no sound coming out.. like she hoarse and sounds like only wind coming out. why?
  3. Hey guys, I know that the african grey mostly like to bond with one member of the family but still, I think this is special case. My congo african grey allow me to pet her and do as I like with her (with limits right? hehe) she's 1 year old baby, called Annie. And that the problem, I am living right now at my grandpa and grandma house. Annie allow some of the time to my grandma to pet her but most of the time's she bite her, to my grandpa she NEVER allowed him to pet her, only biting him and she seeing them the most of the day (she allow him to touch her only when she on th ground and he wanna bring her back to the cage). my girlfriend, at first she bite her most of the times and now she don't and allow her to pet her. My question as you can read, there's any good reason for Annie to bite every time my grandpa? EVERY day he tries to pet her more than half year. Another thing, I bought her with clipped wings.. she haven't change the old ones with new flying feathers. when itll be?
  4. Hey guys.. I don't know where to open this thread.. Anyway, at the house we speak Hebrew, parants between themself speak Rumanian and TV / music / when friends come / family etc' English. That can make my Congo african grey confused? Maybe she won't talk at all because of this? Or it's doesn't matter if she hears few languages. P.s I am her " favorite " person and take care of her, speak to her always English yet hearing music next to her at different languages if it's metter.
  5. Hey guys, Annie is 6 months old Congo african grey. I heard that I can't give her newspaper and plastic straws / roll of toilet paper to chew. I tried to give her and I am pretty sure that she actually swollen and eat them.. I barely can see that she drop the pieces... Also she eat the whole sunflower kernels with the shell.. Should I keep give her those things? Or not.. I am affrid that she choke
  6. Thanks for the comments Steve, I do leave the cage door open always. I close it only at night time or when nobody home (got little dog also). Annie free to walk the house whenever she want. I do think just like you, I bought her this way with clipped wings...
  7. Hey guys, Annie is 6 months old Congo African Grey. Can I bring her with me to my family house? (15-20 minutes drive) I bought her at 18.06.14 and after three days went overseas so she stayed with my girlfriend, at 30.06.14 I took her back. Last Friday I brought new and larger cage as I told at my last thread. Now, can I take her with me for 1 night? She got her wings clipped right now.. It'll make her stress or something? What the risk's of taking her with me right now?
  8. Hey guys, it's a weird question but I must ask to know better.. Can I feed my baby Congo grey 5 month old living food? Like fish that I'll catch etc'? I know ants isn't good because they may have poison that have been sprayed on them. Actually even turtles eat sometimes meat, when they find dead animal or something.. Every animal should eat meat in a while. I know she got her pellets but still, can I try and feed her with living fish that I'll catch on the freshwater lake? If I can and it isn't dangerous, how should I give it to her? The whole fish?
  9. Ok, I'll try to spray her with warm water. More suggestions about the sink? I really want her to like or just to agree bath and not spray..
  10. I tried to spray her but she screaming and trying to bite the spray bottle.. Once I tried to put her inside the sink while the water is gently fall down, she screamed too. about the method 2 that you put a link, is it really okay? as I understood I have to put her body inside the water even if she doesn't like it.. she won't "hate" me or something after that? and how should I do it? she would bite my hands.. You got videos that may help me? or could you explain me please?
  11. Hey guys, How can I get my grey to take a bath \ shower? I just read that it's important part but I don't really know how to do it.. I've got plastic spray bottle and bath for her..
  12. Thanks guys, I'll buy larger cage next month =] Today I bought food and toys.. Another thing that I'm wondering about... 3 days ago my uncle came and wanted to pet her, when he tried she start to scream loudly. Today my dad came to take me to the doctor and he tried also to pet her and she screams and tries to bite him. my uncle and dad she barely know but my grandfather she know.. every day he pet her and talk with her and today when we came from the shop he went to pet her (while she exploring the new toy) and she start also to scream. even she bite me 2-3 times (She never acted like that and always were friendly even to strangers). Why she doing that now?
  13. Thanks, Can you give me tips how she'll let me pet and touch her under the wings? She do let me pet her and putting down her head so I will pet her and like to cuddle but she doesn't allow me to touch or pet under the wings..
  14. Yeah, at the cage she always got pellets for African Grey. every day we give her veggies and fruits, not just apples. She really like apples so we give her it mainly. (we give her Lettuce, peppers (sweet and hot), cucumber, carrots, broccoli, etc.) I don't really know the formula type the breeder gave her but I don't give her any Formula and the vet said that she is 400 grams (and adult parrot should weight like this as he said. Congo Grey)
  15. Hello guys, My baby Congo Grey 4 months old eating a lot as I think. I give her Apple's the most (she very like them) and more vegetables and fruits. (I know what is toxic etc'). Every time I check if the food dish (her own healthy African Grey food) is full or I need to replace the crumbs with new, she got the calcium block for birds at her cage and always ask for more food (vegetables \ fruits). It is normal? maybe because she just an 4 months old baby? should I worry about that? Do I need to give her some diet with the vegetables and fruits or when she want? P.S I don't give her apples daily, 3-5 days in a week... she eating the whole apple when I give her (Never gave the whole apple at the first time, every time part of it)
  16. Yes, it is her cage for now. all day long the TV is on and she "free" to walk at the house.. also I am building her some toy and stuff around the cage and on the walls around the house etc'. basically, she only sleeping at that cage or standing on. Is that a problem? I need larger cage for toys inside the cage?
  17. Hey guys =] I"ve got 4 months old Congo African Grey (just posted thread at Introduction Room) Someone can help me and explain me how can I train her for a basic tricks and "cool" tricks? I did succeed something as I wrote at the Introduction Room. "she never stood on human hands before. after less than 10 minutes of training her (yesterday) I succeed to make her come to my hand. not perfectly yet." Thanks for the helpers =]
  18. Hey ^^ I am new here, my name is Doron and my little Congo African Grey, 4 months old called Annie. This is Annie- She eating a lot, the vet told me that her weight is 400G and that the weight of an adult parrot. Every day she eating fruits, vegetables and pellets for african gray (don't know if this is the name at English). Every day I clean all the cage and every time when the water is dirty I change them, also the food dish. I brought her at 18.6.14 and after 4 days I went to vacation for around 8 days (all the time she was at my girlfriend place, I know this is a lot of stress but she feels good right now ^^") The cages doors always open and she walk as mush as she want out from the cage, around the house. (inside the cage at night time) The farms therapist took her from the parents at the age of one month according to what he said and she were kept with her sister, inside room where they were "free" (kept with the cage open) with another birds with closed cages and the problem was that she never stood on human hands before. after less than 10 minutes of training her (yesterday) I succeed to make her come to my hand. not perfectly yet. Now I have something to ask (I don't really know how to say it so sorry). Why she doesn't "fix" her damaged wing feathers? ever since I brought her, on the both sides of the wings she got damaged feather, also in some of the tail. here some picture-
