I just got a kitten about an hour ago. I also have a 5 year old cat that i've had for 5 years. Now, my older cat doesn't realy get along with other cats generally. she tolerates them, but will hiss if they get too close. i've been told a way to do it. to keep one of the cats in a separate room and only let them smell one another, not see eachother for about 7 days. then very slowly open the door and let them touch noses and slowly let them see and smell one another for tjhemselves. is this a good way? does the fact that the new one is akitten? will the older cat eventually learn to really love it? help??
