  1. Good point thanks ! Mama Mia's toe nails ( claws )are a bit long & sharp but I dare not consider doing anything just yet !
  2. I actually spray bathed Mama Mia today for the second time ! for about 10 seconds she squawked & ran around the cage avoiding the water then suddenly she started to really like it when she was quite wet even bobbing her head, she seemed to forgive me quite quickly.
  3. Can anybody explain why the chest of a Grey quivers ? I though at first it was stress or fear when we first got Mama Mia but she does it even when she is relatively relaxed. @+ Chris
  4. Very nice ! I have some Quakers in my outside avery (about 20) that fly free ! 2 of them I hand reared but are now wild with the others, they get on well with all the wild birds pecking on the ground with hoopoes and doves and what ever's around. I have to control the breeding as they are very prolific birds, sometimes hawks snatch the young just learning to fly. Great video:D
  5. Could someone translate 69° or 75° F. to Centigrade ? I've seen Greys in aviaries with snow on the roof and sub zero temperatures ! @+ Chris:cool:
  6. I don't have that problem but someone told that a TV or radio might help !
  7. Thank you all for assuring me that Mama Mia is not about to keel over and die on me ! @+ Chris
  8. I do sometimes have a wheezy cough myself but when Mama Mia coughs I wonder whether she is just mimicking me or can a Grey really cough ? @+ Chris
  9. Thanks for all your replies, well I think now & I hope that Mama Mia is happy
  10. Thanks Dave awsome reading ! where do I find possible method 1 ?
  11. Thanks Dave ! you put my mind to rest ! my Mama Mia who I had just over a week basicly only mainly eats sunflower seed, she might some times eat some apple or banana but not always ! the previous owner only gave it sunflower seeds & other crap ! thanks.
  12. Here is my home in the South west France, in the middle is my avery I built 10 years ago with 2 compartments occupied by Quaker parrots & ringnecks all flying free ! the Quakers spend all day fetching twigs to build huge nests one on top of the other. Mama Mia lives in my veranda. @+ Chris
  13. Now this might be a difficult question as most people I hope can see or guess when a Grey is not happy or stressed or sick! but being new to Greys I really want to know the signs of happiness in captivity from you experienced owners. @+ Chris
  14. I'm new to Greys but I know quite abit about parakeets and other birds, I've seen birds have yearly cycles where they fall in & out of love (especially solitary boys) at a certain age. they can even fall in love with a dog or any other human or animal ! thats how it is with hand reared birds. be patient and maybe he will like you in the next cycle.
