1. Ya most amazons love water. Mine of course is not most amazons. lol Great pictures. Do however strongly suggest you try an avator harness its much safer and won't break his leg.
2. Well there you have it sounds like a budgie and tiel are your choices for a child. Maybe a sun conure for an older child. I personally would go for a quiter conure like a peach front maybe not not a green cheek to nippy.
3. Take your bird back to the breeder asap she is much to young to miss one feeding much less three.

new cage?

Yes that one is much better. IMO
5. Sorry only know cups and I used to much. lol Next time I use less honey. Like a 1/2 cup. Wait let me look at my cup think one side is metric. Ok not metric but uses ounces 1 cup is 8 oz or 1/2 a pint. Hope that helps.
6. Ill just wait till the next bird fair great prices and toys to choice from as well as stuff to make/revamp your own. Going to NY is out of the question for this Mississippi redneck.
7. I just keep my parrots food bowl full. Grapefruit is fine as long as it has not got any added suger or salt. (wow really bad grammer) I give veggies and fruit in the mornings when that is gone I refill with seed and pellets.
8. Well I had to look to see where your questions that are not being answered might be and they are not here. So go ahead and post them in the right forum Im sure youll get some sort of reply when they are posted.B)
9. One other thing to keep in mine when thinking of getting a bird for your child. In the end more likely then not the bird well wind up being yours. Even it they love the bird very much your child may go to collage and in most cases wont be able to take their pet. So make sure another bird is something you want as well as your child.
10. No your not a horrible mom just have to figure out what is causing this. Wash you hands every time before you handle you bird. If they nails are brittle sounds like he may have some sort of difference in his diet? Not sure what other things can cause brittle nails. Why did the vet want to put him on meds? And why was is it not done? Is there a different vet you can go to? Try offering a bowl of water with veggies in it first thing in the morning before he gets his regular food. That way he well have to "dive" for his food and learn to take baths. Took Que six months to learn to bath this way but it did work.
11. Well be on Sunday. So get to taking pictures of your birds or do a little research and give us some facts about a bird we might like to know. Don't have to be on a bird you have just a bird you are interested in. Just not a grey. Just a couple guide lines. Must be about a bird other then a grey. Must be at least four to five sentence long. For every post that fit the rules you well get one Karma but only on this coming Sunday. So start research and or shoting pictures so your ready.

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/07/29 14:35

new cage?

Ya you need a cage large enough your bird can spread his wings and flap. Up and down space is not as important but flapping space is and you need room for toys on top of that. Bigger is better. Do you have bird fairs in your area? Thats usually a great way to pick up cages for much less.
13. Karma for Judy and Dan. Thank you.
14. Guest are instructed how to act around my birds before they come in. Not that I have many these days but my nieces use to come over a good bit when they were younger and they had to recite the house rules before they came in the door. I may come off sounding mean when I do this but its for my birds sake not theirs so I don't care.B) Over the years I had one niece got biten by my amazon and she was a trooper didnt yell or pull away. Just said in a quite voice "Aunt Angie make it stop.'
15. Just in case anyone is wondering Budgie and Parakeets are the same thing. But you can get a budgie or and English Budgie the english being a bigger bird and calmer they just don't live as long.
16. I would like to discuss birds that are good for younger children. Like 12 and up. Not little little children but a child that is old enough to expect them to feed and clean up after a bird. What bird would suggest and why. What bird you would not suggest and why. I had a lady come and look at my blues a couple weeks ago and found out she wanted a quaker for her 7 year old. I very quickly suggested (strongly) that a quaker is not a good idea for a young child. Even though they are great birds they do go threw a nippy stage and can get very aggressive around their cage and most small children are just not equipped to handle this. So what you would suggest for a child?
17. He is stunning. Shepard mix of some sort? Very pretty coat.
18. I would take the bird to an avian vet and have a full work up to make sure nothing is hurting or making you bird ill. That is usually one of the biggest reasons for this kind of behavior. Then after you do that you can explore other possibilities.
19. LOL they have bird pellets in them and seeds still in the hull. Not so sure you guys want to eat them. But they sure smell good almost done.
20. As many of you know I have several pets. I love each and every one of them but some days I think I went over board. lol Can you do that? Anyway this is Kiwi my oldest dog. She is about 16 years old. She sleeps a lot and don't play as much but she is free of pain and still eats well. Introducing Kiwi doing her favorite thing sleeping. lol
21. I am going to make these. http://www.theperch.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=24498 Hope the link is ok did not want to post the recipe like it was mine.
22. Sorry my que does not do funny things. At least none that a still shot can catch. lol And you have the only photo anyone on the net has ever seen of me and not doing that again. lol Hey but my shots of Que and the jolly ball are still here.
