1. With a good varied diet (yours sounds good) You dont need supplements at all. None of my pet birds are on supplements.
2. Karma for you. I agree 100 percent and could not of said it better.
3. Oh darn like I need to cry more but at least these are tears of joy. So glad you had a happy ending.
4. I have a 27-28 year old wild caught Red Lored Amazon. Has never used human voice. But he can laugh. There are several pairs of amazons where I work. The double yellow head pair has yet to breed but one of those says hello to me all the time. There is a pair of mexian red heads never a word. And two pair of blue front neither those talk either. They have all been breeders a long time and I don't know the histry on these. There is still a baby from last years blue fronts that she has yet to sell. Not really tring to at this time that talks up a storm. If I had the room..... Amazons do get really hormonal but they are very forgiving birds. Most are party animals. But mine is a perch potato and very laid back. Never seen him have what they call "amazon overload" yet. lol Hope you share pictures soon. Would love to see your new baby.
5. While I was at the barn this morning I took a closer look at the doves in the flight pen. The females and younger birds tend to be very slender. But the males although not quite as big as the way you say this one was they still were stocky, big breasted birds. I plan to take my camera out there later this week and get some pictures of the doves and maybe some of the other birds I take care of.
6. Mine makes a loud clicking sound and she hoot/coos. Sometimes she makes this cring sound not really a baby or a puppy so not sure if that is "Natural" or something she made up. I feel in love with her when I heard that cooing sound.
7. Thank you everyone. You are all so sweet.
8. My mother-in-law has been bed ridden for over a year now. Wednesday she slipped into a coma and she died this morning. I have been popping in twice a day but only to check on Other Birds room and make sure it is running smooth. I well be doing that this week also. Soon things well smooth out around here and things well be back to normal again. Thank you for your patience.
9. Yep its a dove. Some of them can get really huge.
10. Sounds like a pretty bad break. Hope you get to the vet soon. Good idea keeping them apart. Let us know what the vet says. I hope it repairs ok.
11. Wish CD was here to tell you about "dogs that never bother the birds". But he is not. All I got to say is I love my birds and would NEVER risk them getting hurt or killed. Period. It always shocks me to see the risk some people are willing to take with their pets. People that don't leash their dogs or let them run the neighbor hood always shocks me. People that let the cats go outside shock me. Guess Im not a risk taker. For me to many things can go wrong even when you do all you can to keep them safe so I try to minimize the risk for my pets as much as I can.

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/02 21:30
12. I got mine from living air. But not cheep. I need to have it worked on and that wont be cheep eihter. But it has been worth every penny. I have had it almost 10 years.
13. Its a Dove. It could be a ring neck my boss has a flight full of them. Even wild doves can be very tame. But it being white I think someone lost it.

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/02 21:19
14. Yep its a CAG. TAG tail feathers are not bright red. They are more maroon.
15. This is why I keep telling people. Don't let you birds "play" together. It's just not a good idea. I agree you need to go to the vet no matter how small the beak injury is. You can't see the inside and it could be worse then it looks. Please keep us posted.
16. I don't cover my cages at all. You got great advice about the food.
17. I have nothing to add. Great advice.
18. Oh no. Don't give up just yet. Keep looking. Make fliers. Widen the search. And your right even clipped a bird can fly a long ways. So clip and keep your bird inside is very good advice. Or use a harness.
19. I have read every book Stephen King has wrote including those he wrote under the name Richard Bachman. Now if I could just get a hold of his new comic books that come out this year. I also like "The Lord of the Rings" and many other books too.
20. I'd rather have fried chicken, mashed potatos and corn on the cob.
