Congrats on getting the quaker you have been wanting, I know you will enjoy it. I haven't heard that about quakers that they need to be allowed to nest, learn something new every day here.
Be sure to share a pic or two when you get it home.
Charlie will talk on his terms, when and how much, just keep talking to him, carry on a conversation with him, read him a book or the newspaper, anything to keep sounding all kinds of words and phrases and he will pick up what he wants to say. B)
Hello Casey and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Olivia.
She is a lovely looking grey, thanks for sharing a few pics of her with us, we all love admiring each other's greys.
Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.<br><br>Post edited by: judygram, at: 2008/09/27 04:35
What an adorable baby Berna, you do have the best job, how great is that you bring home the babies to feed and love on, my problem is I wouldn't want to give them up.
Thanks for sharing that cute little bugger with us.
Pat, why don't you try Suzanne's suggestion of using the clings you can get to put on glass, I have seen some very pretty ones and that may help them from flying into the windows. I hate to see you take their flying priviledges away from them.
Oh yeah, greys can and will mimic sounds like the burp, flatuence, cough, sneeze, hiccup or any other sounds they find worthy of copying, sometimes it is hard to tell whether it is the bird or some one.
OMG Cori, how did that happen, poor Martini, I hope he is going to be ok, going to have to be more careful of the dogs around the birds, they depend on us to keep them safe.
I doubt he is making himself dizzy, he is having a good time playing like the others have suggested, don't worry about it.
What you can do is capture that on video and post it for the rest of us to have a look at.B)
Eureka, I found the thread for the phone numbers to call for free samples of different brands of pellets.

Poor mom had to learn the hard way to keep her distance until she can get on better terms with your grey, nothing like a good hard bite to bring that point across, hopefully one day she will be able to interact with him if that is what she wants to do.
The moment they hit the door lay down the house rules, as much as they want to pet Oscar, they risk a bad bite if they persist and he is not receptive of any touching, no excuses.
Poor thing, her tongue probably bothers her some and a few sips of water can't harm her but yes she will be fine and I look forward to seeing some photos when you get the chance.
I would think that having a little water would be fine, I know as far as us humans go we can do without food longer than we can water, in fact I would suppose any animal would be the same and for a small animal to begin with, dehydration would happen sooner.
Boy this is so scarey, never thought about plastic cutting their tongue, glad to know it is healing already. Never would have thought the vet would say no drink for 24 hours, I can understand the food but no water! Casey can you tell us if the vet said why you had to withhold drink?
Hello Wendy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bacon, I assume that is your Tag's name.
By coming on in and joining you can take part in the discussion and fun and chat with other grey owners, we are just like a second family and we care about each other and each other's birds.
Please do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information if you haven't already and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
When you do bring your Tag home if you would share some pictures with us, we love to admire each other's greys.
Those are beautiful and I would imagine he would have to be very careful with them when painting on them, much too tricky for me but the end result is spectacular to behold.
Pat, I am so sorry to hear that Spike has passed on to the Rainbow Bridge, poor little thing, and I know your heart is breaking but it was just one of those freak things that happen. Please accept my condolences on your loss and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Mick I too advise you to take him to see an avian vet and when you get that taken care of come back and introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this grey.
Ron, if Dusty is going to talk he will when he gets good and ready, my grey Josey didn't talk until she was a year old so he has plenty of time. You don't need any books or videos to teach them to talk, if they want to say words and phrases they will, just keep talking to him.
Ron, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and Dusty.
