  1. Hello Tulip and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting. I can imagine about now that you feel as if November will never get here but it will soon enough and then you will know what we speak of, that greys are amazing creatures and only another greyt owner knows what we feel about them. As you are already reading thru the many threads continue to do so for we have lots of useful information and be sure to go thru the bird food room for lots of ideas and suggestions of what to feed this grey. When you get some pictures of this grey please share a few with us so we may admire your grey, we love photos here as you can plainly see.
  2. Don't be sorry Yvette and believe me if you get irritating we will let you know:whistle:  :side:
  3. Can you handle 2 little girls, one 7 years old and the other 2 years old, I am babysitting my 2 grandkids today and it has been a madhouse all day.
  4. I doubt he will get any bigger, he is at full size now.
  5. I don't know about "off the books" but you know why they call them "velcro birds" don't you, because you can't pry them off of you, they tend to want to be permanently attached to you, can you handle that? Not trying to talk you into one but a lot of the conures can be clownish and funny, mine is at times, I would thoroughly research before committing to a particular one.
  6. Thats it in a nutshell, mine copy each other especially the Cag, she can do a sun conure scream that is a carbon copy of the real thing. They do keep each other company while I am gone to work and otherwise.
  7. Its a nice looking grey, sort of a Tag with a black beak, interesting looking but very pretty, thanks for sharing these pics with us:)
  8. Yvette, I think you have entirely too much time on your hands, why don't you send me some of it as I could put it to good use. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  9. By all means, if you want another grey then get one, we have many members here with more than one and some of them get along and some don't, its entirely up to you.
  10. Amberly, I have a sun conure that I got before I got my grey so I have not added to my flock since then so I don't know how she would react to the addition of yet another bird. I really have no desire to add another at this time or ever as I am comfortable with what I have. Just remember that if you do get another bird be sure to do things for Woody first so he knows he is the top bird, being there first is important to him so always make him feel special in that regard. I am not going to recommend any particular bird as you are the one who has to make that decision for yourself and what you like. Just remember that whatever bird you do get probably won't get along with Woody just because greys are notorious for disliking other birds even other greys. My Josey and Sunny, my conure do not get along but they do co-exist in the same room, they do not share the same playstand and if both are on my shoulder at the same time they are on opposite sides. They are not aggressive towards each other but if one gets too close then the other will try to get in a bite. Whether you want a smaller bird or a larger one, do the research to find what is the most compatible for you in terms of what you are wanting out of another parrot.
  11. I can just see it now, he will say "jump" and you will reply "how high?" :woohoo:  Thanks for sharing your hilarious story with us that shows just how smart our greys really are.
  12. Brittany, I am so sorry about the baby grey that was supposed to have been yours, but you will find another, you may have to wait longer but it will be worth it. You never know this may be a blessing in disquise, sometimes when one door closes another one opens, keep an open mind and do look for breeders instead of pet stores.
  13. Looks like you and the fids had a very good time making and breaking toys:laugh:I need to do some of this myself, thanks for sharing some wonderful pics with us of your efforts. B)
  14. They each have their own personality so they are all different but then that is what you want, you don't want carbon copies. I'll just bet you are spoiling him rotten and please do share some more pictures with us, we love looking at Jasper, Casper or whatever you are naming him, but choose soon or sooner.
  15. Keep a positive attitude Nora, look at the glass as half full instead of half empty. B)
  16. What is that red thing she sleeps in, interesting looking:huh:
  17. Those are some cute pictures of Koko, I love the one of her sleeping, she looks so adorable, thanks for sharing some pictures with us Sanggay:)
  18. Pat I would do as you suggested, take her into the room without the cage and let her play and spend some time there to get used to the room. Then slowly take her cage into the room all the while talking to her telling her exactly what you are doing. she may surprise you and accept it more readily than you expect. Congrats on turning a bedroom into a bird room where the mess can be confined to one area, will be easier to clean up birdie messes and we all know they can make the biggest messes.
  19. Pat they can be funny about the silliest things but I bet soon she will find out that popsicle is yummy stuff and will be gobbling away like Fergie does hers.
  20. Debbie, has anything changed about you that Greyson may have noticed that is causing the reaction he is giving you right now? I ask because they notice little things like a different shade of nail polish or a different hair style. My Josey reacted like she was afraid of my hands when I wore some nail polish as I don't usually wear any. Don't let this discourage you for you do have a long road to travel with this grey in light of him being abused before but something is bothering him. Has he been to see an avian vet since you got him? If not, why not schedule a visit and see if he is well and healthy.

  22. It is my understanding that yogurt is low in lactose so therefore it is ok to feed it to your grey as greys are lactose intolerant and that is why dairy products are usually forbidden foods. Someone correct me if I am wrong:huh:
  23. We do lots of guessing here but when it comes right down to it, DNA is the only way to tell for sure and www.avianbiotech.com is the place to visit for that.
  24. Boy the title to this one says it all, I'm totally confused:blink:
  25. That is encouraging to hear and with time he will get more and more used to you, sometimes it takes a while but keep up the good work and pretty soon there will be other breakthrus, do keep us informed of his progress.
