  1. You know pictures are worth a thousand words, would love to see that if you could manage it but thanks for the image I have in my mind, Spock sounds like he is having a jolly good time.
  2. Thanks for sharing that video with us Julie, they are magnificent birds and very gentle in spite of that very large beak. We have a member of our bird club who used to have 2 of these birds but she has recently had to give them both up due to her ill health, she used to being them to our annual bird fair for everyone to enjoy.
  3. Hello Linda and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Corky. I checked your pictures of your profile but you need to read this thread as it will help you with posting pics in the thread itself: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-photography-room/89533-how-to-post-picturesphoto-tuturial.html So you are not new to greys, my Josey is my first one and now I wonder what took me so long to get one as they are amazing creatures as you well know. We have lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  4. That is a great picture of the whole pride at the watering hole, no wonder you wanted it in a prominent place, thanks Shelia for sharing it with us.
  5. Partner is adorable from the picture you shared and do not worry about a change in schedule but you should not be spending every waking moment playing with him anyways as he will come to expect it. They need some time to be alone to play and amuse themselves and in the future you will eventually have a full time job that will require you to be gone for at least 8 hours a day so the time to prepare him is now. I know it is nice to be able to spend a lot of time with him now but it could prove to be against you in the long run. He could develop behavior problems or start plucking due to the fact that you will not be spending the time with him you used to do. Be sure to let us know how the vet visit goes and about the toweling, take it slow and easy, it will take a while to get him used to it, make it fun and try playing hide and seek with it, he may come to accept it easier and more quickly that way. Try the vegetables in different ways, raw, cooked, sliced, chopped, mashed and so forth, he may just prefer certain ones certain ways but the important thing is to keep offering them.
  6. In my opinion something has spooked her, something has happened or changed, maybe something you are not even aware of that she is fearful and I would have to say it has something to do with that harness. Can you think back to the last time she had it on, maybe you had a little trouble getting it off or she saw something that she associates with that harness or maybe your hand since she seems to afraid of them too? Do a little more thinking back to thelast time she had it on or used it and tell us about it. We have some knowledgeable members here who may be able to help you with your problem.
  7. Poor thing probably did freak out when seeing that picture but in time he will come to not pay much attention to it and then you can move it to a more prominent position which is where you wanted it to begin with. Like Dan I would love to see it if you would share it with us please Shelia:) B)
  8. My grey Josey has shown no aggression toward Sunny, my sun conure but the exact opposite is true for Sunny, she will try to go after Josey but I keep them apart. They are fine to be out at the same time but they can't share a playstand, I have to have them on separate ones. Occasionally I might have both on my shoulders but I have to be careful that Sunny stays on her side and Josey is fine with that. It would be nice if they got along better but it isn't going to happen so I live with what I have but am a little jealour of those whose birds do get along.
  9. And I can see why, Ecko is a greyt looking grey, thanks for sharing them with us Caitlin and congrats on him saying his name.
  10. My sun conure uses a sleep tent and that is so sweet of Mango in her hut, I can never catch Sunny in hers, thanks for sharing this pic with us.
  11. Those are some great pictures of Emma and I absolutely love the first one as does everyone else, no wonder, she is like a little angel in that shot, it is no wonder you are so proud of her, thanks for sharing them with us.<br><br>Post edited by: judygram, at: 2009/05/17 02:41
  12. Believe me these last two weeks will be the longest of your life, but it won't be that bad, you have a great looking grey and you better be prepared when that time gets here, thanks for sharing a pic of your baby with us.
  13. Well Nancy we want some pictures when you go visit your baby at 6 weeks of age, we love to look at the baby greys as they are so adorable.
  14. What a wonderful success story Pat, poor thing probably did suffer abuse and no wonder he was terrified of hands but you have done a great job with him and he is so handsome in the pic you shared with us, thanks.
  15. Dusty looks like a perfect little angel from the pic you shared, how could such a sweet looking thing like that be such a pain in the a$$, why that face just screams "I'm a little darling"
  16. I love that second pic of Petrie, he is a handsome thing, thanks for updating us on him.
  17. My husband doesn't like them too much, they tend to pull up corn seedlings when he plants it in the spring, they are smart enough to know that little seedling sticking up out of the ground has a kernal of corn on the other end. But otherwise thanks for sharing this particular one with us.
  18. You do take very good pictures Nick and I especially like the black cat, looks so slick and sleek, thanks for sharing them with us.
  19. Tom is right, you use it straight from the bottle, no dilution is necessary, its usually with the digestive remedies section in the pharmacy.
  20. Happy Hatchday Alfie and may you have many, many more.
  21. Hello Nancy and welcome to our family, we are so happy you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new baby Tag. Congrats on your baby grey hatching and then you will have to wait until mid September which sounds like a long time away but its not, it will pass fairly quickly. In the meantime while you are waiting please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions and we will help you in any way we can.
  22. Hello Medic3709 and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting. One thing is for sure you are about to embark on a wonderful experience, perhaps a new one to you since you don't say you have had any birds before. But a grey is unlike a lot of birds, they do require a lot of attention but they are such awesome creatures that will enrich your life in many ways. So glad to hear you have already been reading thru our many threads as we do have just about every subject covered and most of it is from actual experience from our members so you can rely on it being the truth. You will be fully prepared for the day your new baby comes home. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you get any of your new baby please share them with us so we can ohh and awww over them.
  23. This might be this member's bird. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/134906-my-grey-needs-a-new-home.html#134906
  24. Yep sounds like she is jealous, pure and simple and I bet she does not have a bird or at least a grey and she can't stand it so she puts you down, ignore her she isn't worth the trouble.
  25. According to Dave you did the right thing, this is a creature that was meant to be outside with his own kind. The vet's office was the best place to take him as I imagine they have others that have met a similar fate but he is a cutie, thanks for taking the time to get him to the vet and for sharing the experience with us.
