  1. Poor Ziva is not happy with her new diet but for her own good she needs to stick with it, good luck in getting her switched to a healthier diet. You will find lots of ideas and suggestions in the bird food room so be sure to go over it thoroughly. Glad to hear her bloodwork came back good and be sure to let us know if she is a she or he, I will venture a guess as male.
  2. Josey is usually very quiet when someone comes to the house but she doesn't growl or anything, most people will not go too close to her cage and they usually ask if she will bite and I tell them she can but she has never bitten me. When the kids come with the grandkids she is more relaxed and will talk some after they have been in the house for a while. Some people will go closer to her to check her out and some don't even pay any attention to her at all. But I never allow anyone to go close enough to stick their fingers in her cage, she might be fine with it but I don't want to take the chance and I don't want them upsetting her if she would take a notion to dislike them.
  3. Unless you are a bird person you don't know one bird from another but I don't think I have ever had anyone call my grey a pigeon but if they did I would straighten them out very quickly, nothing against pigeons but Josey isn't one. I would take their comments with a grain of salt, everyone has their own interests and some of us aren't cut out to be bird people but I forgive them.
  4. Those are two cute little suns, I am partial to suns since I have one, thanks for sharing the pics with us and can't wait to see more later.
  5. Pat those are some cute pics of Adaya on her back, she is quite the character isn't she, thanks for sharing them with us.
  6. Josey never was a real cuddly bird who liked to snuggle but she has her moments and they are on her terms of course but she is more receptive of any cuddling at night right before bedtime. Now my conure is about the exact opposite, she would cuddle or snuggle most any time but I love them both, snuggle or not.
  7. Thanks Jeannine for letting us know about Rico, I know this was not an easy decision but it was for the best and I hope Rico and his new owner will bond and be forever friends.
  8. At least it was a belch:whistle:
  9. You are good, real good Caitlin if you snuck up on him to take that pic for I haven't quite been able to do that but then you are a lot younger than me. I just love these sleepy pics and maybe one day I will get lucky and get one of Josey, at least there is hope.
  10. My vet recommends pellets should make up about 60% of their daily diet, the rest being vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and fruits. I usually keep pellets in Josey's cage all the time as she goes to them throughout the day to eat. No doubt Harrisons would like you to feed their pellets for 90% of their diet, that would sell more.
  11. OMG, that is very scarey but I am glad you were able to get Fred and your two dogs out to safety, this is a perfect example of why we should have a travel cage ready for our fids for we never know when we will have to use it. You were very lucky as it could have been a lot worse, glad to hear Fred has been checked out and is A-Ok.
  12. Pat, Josey and Sunny will do that too when they are on my shoulder but both like to lick the condensation on the glass but I try to keep them out of the glass for sometimes I am drinking a soda or tea and they can't have it. Its so funny when Sunny tries to do that as she tries to wedge her beak in from the side.
  13. I wish it were true too for I know this is hard for you and Kim and even Dayo misses him even though they didn't get along, much like brothers and sisters do. I think you will find him eventually and yes it may be better that he is fully flighted as he can escape harm more so than one that is clipped. I will continue to keep Jake in my thoughts and prayers that he is home safe and sound real soon.
  14. Thats great that Alex is home and doing well and congrats on his loving his Harrison's pellets, he is off to a good start. Thats such a bummer though that the breeder clipped his wings so early and it will now take a while for them to grow out but when they do then he can try flying again.
  15. Thats a great picture Melissa and enjoy the cuddles while they last for most grow out of the cuddly stage, thanks for sharing a cute pic of you with Tuki.
  16. Heather, what do you think this thread is:whistle: Great pictures everyone!!

    Poor Conure

Thanks for sharing your beautiful birds with us and I can see you are kept busy with preparing meals for all your fids.
  18. I think that after a safe amount of time in quarantine that you would have to observe anyways when introducing new birds into the household is over then I don't see a problem with using it for a few hours for your grey and he would probably enjoy it too.
  19. Most pickles involve the addition of lots of salt in the process of making them so therefore they would not be suitable for consumption by our greys, better to give them a cucumber slice.
  20. Its also the 41st birthday of my daughter, my oldest child, my gosh that makes me feel so old but I want to wish her a Happy Birthday and I love you with all my heart:kiss: :kiss: :kiss: {Love-000200BF}
  21. Yes most of us have them freely in our yards as long as they haven't been sprayed with any kind of chemicals they are good for them.
  22. Hello Kili and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about this new grey. You are like me, I started out with a sun conure then wanted something bigger and I decided on a grey, a Cag to be exact and it was the best decision I ever made. I think your decision to allow another breeder to finish weaning your baby grey is the best since you have no experience in it and things can go wrong so a breeder will know how to handle it and being on the same island will allow you to visit which would be very difficult and pricey if on another island. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them when you get a chance and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. When you do see your baby do get some pictures to share with us as we love to admire each other's greys, especially the babies.
  23. You have a big girl there for sure, Josey weighs in around 425 so she is a lightweight but they all vary according to their bone structure.
  24. Congrats Nick on Partner being a boy, you thought he was a he and you were right.
  25. Poor Jake out in that thunderstorm, he must have been so frightened but I think he is still out there somewhere surviving and you may not find him for a while but you will, some way and some how you will find him. I will continue to pray for his safe return and I will keep you and Kim in my thoughts for I can imagine what you are going thru. Please continue to give us updates Dan and keep looking.
