You have a very pretty cat also, love those open mouth shots, your cat looks a little plump:whistle: sorry, she is just stout:laugh: I love that white patch that goes down the middle of her nose.
Congrats on your new bird she is very pretty, have you named her yet?
Cockatoos are not for everyone including me, they are too needy of a bird but they can make wonderful companions for the right people.
I look forward to hearing more about this new bird of yours and of course you are welcome to post more pictures, we love birdy pics.
Thanks Shelia, I totally missed that point, Grace has only been with you for about 10 days and she needs more time to settle in like Shelia stated, if you didn't already know greys are slow to adopt to change.
Hello Ladyluck and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Grace.
I do not have experience with hand feeding baby greys as I purchased mine already weaned but we do have some members who are very familiar with the process and they will chime in with their ideas and suggestions.
She may just be protective of her cage, that is her sanctuary where she feels safe and maybe she just doesn't want to come out at the moment you attempt to get her out. In any case I wouldn't worry about it, greys are very cautious creatures and I don't think you are doing anything wrong.
You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them, especially the nursery room, do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
We love pictures here so if you have some of Grace you would share with us we would greatly appreciate it.
I bought Josey that exact same toy and she still won't play with it, she is still afraid of it but I keep moving it closer so she will get used to it.
Ecko is a fine looking grey Caitlin, you must be doing something right, he does look healthy.
I have no doubt that he is very smart, thanks for sharing those pics with us.
It has nothing to do with his colors or that you think he is "freaky" looking, most greys do not like other birds, they don't even like most of their own species, that is a fact.
Thanks you all for sharing your kitty pictures with us, I especially love the 2nd and 3rd pictures of yours Heather, that open mouth shot is good, very good.
She wants the attention, she is saying "how dare you pass me by and not pay any attention to me, what, am I invisible, come back here and notice me"
You know already they don't like to be ignored so yes this is her way of letting them know she feels slighted, btw, how dare them not notice her, thats so rude.
Corn is a big hit with my two birds too, in fact Josey tears up the entire cob, makes it into tiny pieces and throws a lot of it all around her but I am sure she manages to eat some of it. Sunny will take the kernals and eat the inside out of it and leave the hulls.
Thanks for sharing that photo of Kookie and his corn.
Who has time for hobbies, the birds don't leave much time for that, I used to read a lot but don't read much anymore for Sunny and Josey would tear up the pages and then I couldn't finish it and I couldn't stand not knowing how it ends.
I used to sew a lot when the kids were still at home, I used to make lots of clothes for myself and my daughter, even matching outfits but that kind of fell along the wayside.
I love to shop even if I don't buy anything, its fun to just look sometimes. I do love watching good movies and of course I love cruising thru the forum and posting to threads and chatting with friends.
Sky rats, now I like that but no true bird fan would ever mistake a grey for a pigeon, at least I better never hear of one doing it, twenty laps with a very wet noodle.
Its probably just an anomaly, I doubt the breeder went to all the trouble to cross a Tag with a Cag, my opinion of course, take it with a grain of salt but not the whole shaker.
That Adaya is one soaked bird, all the birds pictured here are very wet, I can never get Josey that wet, for one thing she won't cooperate and fluff up her feathers so the water can get down to her skin and I guess she has so much oil from her preen gland on her feathers that the water just rolls off, gonna have to come up with some kind of solution to this problem.
This is a great thread, wish I could share a wet one with ya.
Boring us, no way, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:silly: opps, sorry I dozed off there for a second:blush: not to worry.
Yes by all means post a diary of how he progresses with the pellets, inquiring minds want to know.
Nice pictures of your two, you have quite a pair and look at those pink boings, wonder if I could find one for my Josey, of course they will give you the evil eye until they get used to it, thanks for sharing those pics with us.
The first thing you do when your grey first starts plucking is take them in to see an avian vet for a complete workup to rule out anything physical to be the cause. If everything checks out ok then you have to look at behaviorial reasons for the plucking and that will take some time and research to find the cause.
Hang in there, be sure to read every thread here on this site about plucking to get some ideas and suggestions but some of them are just gonna do it and there is not much you can do to stop it.
Josey eats them but clearly would rather have other things, some days she eats a good many of them and other days she hardly touches them, she would rather have people food, you know real food.:pinch: :silly:
Now why didn't I think of that, just a simple rope hung up makes a swing, duh, this old mind can't think anymore.
I made Josey a playstand out of pvc pipe and covered it with vet wrap and she doesn't like the feel of the wrap, she is constantly picking at her feet when on it, what to do, what to do!!
Well Happy Hatch Day early for ZZero and thanks for sharing some cute pics of him, he sure is a character and a handsome one at that.
That travel cage looks familiar, did you get that from the country roost? I have one just like it.
Love those cats especially the last pic with the lizard in her mouth offering it to you, she has a cute expression on her face, thanks for sharing your cats with us. I will try to get one of my only cat when I get home from work.
I so hope this is Jake and you are very lucky indeed Dan to find him, I can imagine he is very stressed out at the moment being away from his family and being out in the "wild".
This will be a long 24 hours, I know exactly how you feel but let us know as soon as you find out, we want to know too, this has been like losing a member of our family, our greyt family.
