  1. Simba is one beautiful white cat and Seleni isn't bad either, thanks for sharing pictures of your sweet cats with us, love the one of both of them sleeping entwined on the couch.
  2. That is cute as a button, Dan, you told us he could do it but we have to see it to believe it, thanks for sharing that with us.
  3. They are so cute, makes me want another one, not:laugh: Thanks Jay and Maggie for sharing these pics of your baby suns with us.
  4. Thanks Susan and Penny, yes we do go back a ways don't we and yes I remember the "D" day, I will be thinking of you when I have my margarita. B)
  5. Thanks Toni and I guess I know where you found that out now don't I:laugh: Thanks also to Erika and Supernova for the birthday wishes.
  6. Thanks Caroline for remembering my birthday, when you get as old as I am sometimes you want to forget about them and yes I think I will have a margarita or two. Thanks also to Julie, Cristen and Janet.
  7. Most greys will lower their head in anticipation of being scratched as they love having their head and especially their neck scratched, my Josey does it a lot. Some greys will do what we call a "sucker punch" they will lower their head like they are inviting a scratch but what they really want to do is make a bite. You can usually tell the difference by looking at their eyes, if they have their head lowered but their eyes are looking up and watching you then you better watch out especially if they are pinning. If you are planning to try to scratch Sam's head and neck then take it slowly and watch his body language, he just might welcome it but take your time and let him tell you when he is ok with it. Some greys just do not want to be touched very much and some do so take it easy until you find out which category Sam belongs in.
  8. Lyric looks like he has a lot on his mind, like what can he get into next and yes of course, whats to eat!! I like that picture Jen, thanks for sharing it with us.
  9. That was so sweet of Beau to leave you a little present:sick: he is saying he loves you, you should be tickled pink.
  10. I have never smoked, neither does my hubby, son, daughter or their spouses and no one smokes in my house either, if someone comes to visit and wants to smoke, they must go outside as I will not allow it, no one has ever smoked in my house, we built it in 1982 and to this day remains smoke free.
  11. Welcome back Lauren and sorry to hear you have been sick but thats what happens sometimes, hope that is all over with now and you are back to yourself. Yes we all get busy and cannot visit the forum as often or as much as we would like to but at least you let us know about what is going on with you, some leave and you never hear from them again. Thats wonderful to hear that Pax is starting to say a few words, the floodgate is open now so I would imagine you will be hearing a lot more from now on. Don't let as much time go by before you check in again, we want to hear from you how Pax is doing and some new pictures are always welcome.
  12. I wish you weren't joking, I would love to have you come over and go with me but I understand you can't leave your fids and I don't blame you but the offer still stands for anyone else close enough to go with me, I would love the company.
  13. No I have never ordered anything from them but sometimes things happen so don't base your judgement of them on one order gone awry. Now if you order from them again and things go wrong then I wouldn't bother with them again.
  14. Char you are so right, a hand full to say the least, I hope you are up to having a B&G with two greys to boot, congrats.
  15. Thanks for the link, it has a lot of useful information, I have bookmarked it for later.
  16. Hello Patricia and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Sloopy. I know you are excited about this new baby grey and September will seem like a lifetime away but use this time to prepare for the coming "event". Are you getting your baby grey from someone local or will he have to be shipped to you? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. When you first bring Sloopy home just let him settle in, let him decide when he wants to come out of his cage, don't force him and he might not want to for he will be in a strange environment and will take him some time to feel comfortable. Some baby greys are quick to be a part of the family and others will be more laid back, just let him decide when he wants to join in. If you get any pictures of Sloopy please consider sharing some with us, we love to see the babies.
  17. As promised I have arranged to go visit the sanctuary on June 27, I plan to arrive at 11 am to volunteer for a couple of hours then the actual visit starts at 1 pm. I inquired about bringing someone with me and they said I was welcome to bring a friend so if anyone wants to go along with me or meet me there that would be great. I plan to bring my camera to take lots of pictures and will share some with you all here, I especially want to take a lot of the african grey aviary. This will be an all day excursion for me as it will take me several hours to get there and I will probably stay until the visiting hours are over but I am so looking forward to it. Are any of you willing to join me or meet me there?

  19. I am so glad to hear you waited it out with the beginning of your pregnancy and now things are looking much better, it was just a thing that didn't last and you made it thru with flying colors. If you had given up your grey you would have regretted it but if you handle things properly then you will have a lifetime comapanion the whole family can enjoy. Thanks for letting us know and let us hear from you more often as we want to know what is going on with you and your grey.
  20. I don't know whereabouts you live in MD but we are having a bird fair in Roanoke, VA on June 20 if you would be interested in coming to that. I will be there all day helping out with it as it is being put on by our bird club. There will be all kinds of small birds for sale and cages, food, toys, stands and so forth.
  21. I'm glad to hear you are fine after your surgery and I am also glad you got the bird you wanted but you chose this bird and you know grey's abilities to mimic any sound and especially other birds so yes you don't have anyone to blame but yourself, sometimes husbands are right but not too often. If you knew before you got the eclectus that this was going to happen would you have gotten it anyway? Its ok to let off steam sometimes but you really made a hole this time that will be hard to get out of but I hope you succeed.
  22. Well I made a pvc playstand for Josey and wrapped it with vet wrap and she doesn't like the feel of the wrap for when I put her on it, that is when she finally got used to its being there, she kept picking her feet up and chewed at her nails as if something was on them. I am going to have to try wrapping it with some kind of rope and see if she likes it any better. That is a great looking playstand, I like the addition of the ladders, thanks for sharing it with us.
  23. He can have the pasta if it doesn't have a heavy sauce on it like alfredo that has cream and salt in it. My Josey loves any kind of pasta or noodles.
  24. Hello Rob and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bella.
  25. I knew it, there is supposed to be a guy coming to our bird fair that makes them from crape myrtle branches, I wanted to get one when I went to Virginia Beach in April but I was with someone else and they didn't have room in their car for it. I'll bet Dayo will love it.
