Well I must say you are an exception for most people your age are out having fun with their friends and anything but hanging around home so you are a true bird person, one of the crazies but you are in good company for you are one of us.

Probably so Tommy, I do not have any experience with the larger birds but Pat gave you some good advice about not showing fear when you handle him or he will pick up on that, he is testing you right now and if he finds out you are scared of him then you will have a long tough road to hoe.

Still pleasant here in the high 70's but it is getting a little more humid so it feels hotter, we would welcome a thunderstorm at this point as we are a little dry right now.

Congrats Tommy on your new acquistion, Meiko is a nice looking B&G, maybe you can get us some more pictures soon to show us a better view of him, maybe some of him out of the cage.

Char I think you hit the nail on the head, today's society is selfish and self centered, they think only of themselves and they just don't get it. But hey maybe it is better that everybody doesn't feel the way we feel about birds or everyone would want them. We are all different but those of us on this forum share one key ingredient, we love our fids, maybe as much or more than we love our own flesh and blood and that is what makes us special. Yeah I hear that occasionally, "well its only a bird" they don't understand and never will and frankly I don't give a rat's patootie what they think of me for they have no clue so yes I am a "crazy bird lady" and proud of it.

We will miss you while you are gone unless you get lucky and find free internet service but you can fill us in on where you went and what you did when you get back and share some pics too if you like.

Hello Mark and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could finally join us and I am so happy you have decided to add an african grey to your life. Thats what I like to hear is that you have done a lot of research to find out if a grey fits into your lifestyle, you wouldn't believe how many people fail to do just that and that is why we have so many birds in need of new homes. I'm sure you found out that greys tend to be quieter birds than conures and I should know as I have a sun conure and she does make more noise than my grey. You have probably already about read thru all the threads but if not continue to read them and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Will you be visiting your baby before you bring it home, if so please take a few pictures and share some with us as we love to see the babies.

She is such a naughty little bird wanting her mom's attention, well she will just have to wait her turn, I love the sounds she was making, so cute, thanks for sharing that with us.

Hello Justalady and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new baby grey. I remember the waiting, it seems like it will never get here but it will before you know it and then you will have a lifetime to get to know him/her and become the best of friends. Do you have any other birds or parrots? Is this your first grey? Do you plan to have it dna'd? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Will you be able to see or visit your grey before it comes home to you, if so then try to get us some pictures as we would love to see it.

Well it is only going to be in the high 70's here today so that is very nice weather but it is a little overcast so the sun has not been out much but hey who cares. Well not all pet store birds are unhealthy but it seems we always hear stories about them all the time so we usually caution people about purchasing them there, probably a lot of them come from bird mills but you got lucky with Chivalry. I look forward to seeing some pictures when you get the chance.

Thats a very good idea with the laminated list of no no's. You are going to have lots of fun, I was at Sea World a long time ago and the magic kingdom just last December so enjoy yourself and bring us back some pictures.
