I agree with Ray.... I have a tag & cag, both only 2 months apart in age. They do not 'flock' together as Dan states. They tolerate each other...my tag knows she is smaller and would never take on my cag. Mt cag rules as far as they are concerned. My amazon is 3 1/2 years younger. All 3 of my birds are fully flighted, they are always out together. They will never play with each other, my cag has tried to be friends with my amazon, she puts her head down for scrithes to her at times, but my amazon says NO WAY! They are all very jealous for my attention when I sit on the couch, I always pay attention to all 3 of them as equally as possible. They all get time with me, but the cag and amazon are possessive of me at times. I usually have have a grey on one shoulder and an amazon on the other. They will share in food together when eating at breakfast & dinner, they will hang out with me together, but never will they be best buddies.....I don't believe it is possible with an amazon in the picture....they dominate! Well, that is my 2 cents worth. As long as they don't fight, I would be very happy that they choose to co-exist as mine do.

Hee Hee. don't you know.....Greys train US!! LOL It is still early, I don't believe in "training" greys as much as I do allowing them to be as God intended them to be, but in learning their language and trying to communicate our wishes and wants with them so they will be more apt to enjoy the things we want them to do, and want to please us when it fits them...

I had to search every where to find a fully stainless steel one. (of course I wanted black) I love mine! They are very hard to find.

Totally against clipping,, and I have 5 birds, that is why I try and stay out of these types of discussions...

One other suggestion, I have a small travel cage. I put one of my birds in it, and take them into the car where I then let them out providing all the windows are closed. They love the car ride with me! My vet told me he had a man who had a grey and it started plucking terribly, he took it out for daily car rides, and it stopped. Go figure!

Hi, I have 3 parrots, and I too never want to take their free flying away from them, so I applaud you for that. I don't take my birds out as I feel as you do, not worth the risk. Make sure she has a uv light, leave the tv on, they do like to watch it. I also have a bird sitter DVD that loops and they enjoy that a few times a week, as well as kid tv shows. I have found that my birds love their hanging buckets with bits of broken toys, treats, wooden beads, popsicle sticks etc., wrapped up tightly in scrap paper. They spend lots of time trying to chew the paper off. I would suggest that. Be careful, one of my greys is scared of the shiny metal hanging bucket, she is fine with the wooden one. It may take a while former to attempt to go near it, but once she does, it will occupy her for quite a while. I also feel as you do about the vet, I don't think a vet visit is necessary, she may just be bored, and chewing her feathersmkeeps her busy. I also have a tag and she prefers parakeet size toys.........also, qtips are a favorite of my birds.

Greys ARE afraid of most new things. You have to remember, that 2 months is not enough time for him to feel comfortable and trusting to you, your home, etc. Adding too many new things to that probably is a bit too much for him yet. I would lay off exposing him to new things until he has had time to get more adjusted to his new home. It can take months before he is totally comfortable....my cag took a long time. Keep things simple and calm for him, it will help him adjust.

I don't want to praise the business practices of JWR. However, I bought 5 of their air cleaners to put in various rooms of my house. about 5 years ago...I absolutely LOVE them. Upkeep is easy, and they work better than any other air cleaners I have purchased. Over the years, I have purchased many others.

I bought my at Home Depot. I have them all over my house strung tightly for walkways and perches...Cheap too! You can also hang small toys from them to make it more exciting.

I have the exact cage from the same place, only it is sandstone. I am very happy with it. I too, took the divider out. As Judy states, be sure to disinfect it with vinegar and water...do NOT use Bleach or Ammonia.

I am by no means an expert, but when I bought my amazon, she was 6 months old, and the breeder said she was just recently weaned. Amazons take longer than greys to wean. Your bird is much too young, and needs expert care asap....please get him back to the breeder to hand feed, or the vet as an emergency visit.

Welcome to our family! Yes, the shoulder is the preferred place for my 3 parrots. They like the closeness and I feel they are comforted and secure when there. It makes them feel special. I teach my parrots to " step down" when they are on my shoulder. I save "step up" when I want them to come to me. Give lots of praise andexcitement in your voice when they do what you want, it will reinforce it much quicker.

I have 3 flighted birds.....tried to get them to do the same.....they WANT to come, but can't seem to realize they can fly to me...they want me to reach over and get them...LAZY BIRDS! But when I tell them to come on, we're going upstairs to take a shower, they will all fly to the top of the stairs and perch on the railing waiting for me to pick them up. You should see me walking down the hall with all 3 birds on me...I am a HUMAN BIRD PERCH!!!! LOL

I have the same cargo net. I cut it in half cause it was so big and heavy. Only my amazon will go on it, the others are afraid of it after 2 years of looking at it....

Doesn't matter if you hide in the bathroom or not...they will just follow you, hang on the door, chew it, or go on the floor, and chew the bottom of it!!! There's no escaping, I know, mine follow me everywhere also.......

Hi Heather, I never even noticed it was missing.....sorry, I don't go to the home page too often. The owners just recently did a photo change among some other things as Judy has stated. I guess they thought it was featured there long enough since the contest was well over 3 years ago. I am sorry........ they do have some exciting news coming, they are getting their own grey, and I am sure they will be posting a photo there.
