Val, I could have written your post. I experienced the sam things you did, although I quickly canceled my credit card to prevent him from charging anymore than he already did. You will never receive an invoice, I actually won 2 in his so called drawings....I do like the air cleaners, but i have a lifetime supply of filter and bulbs, don't change them as often as he says you should, not necessary. I mark my phone with his name every time he still calls for the last 5 years and don't take his future calls.

Don't take the risk, keep them away from your bird. Not every bird can tolerate small amounts....

My tag, Talon won't go in her cage. She has a sleep cage, never gone in it no matter how long she is in it. Downstairs she has a daytime cage for when I have to work or go out. She won't go in it either unless I leave her there for the entire day, and even then, rarely. But as soon as I take her out, she will go potty on her potty basket. She will even go potty the very last second on her potty basket before take her up to bed. Don't worry, if they have to go, they will. It won't hurt them to hold it. That shows great control and awareness I think..

Thank you. Yes, Rikki loves it and I bought the same for my amazon, Nilah. They both seem to like the space and there is plenty of room for perches and toys with out It being too crowded.

Thanks everyone, I would LOVE to be on the jury! I do wonder why the macaws were out in the enclosed porch after losing their grey, but I haven't asked........they did tell me they had an alarm system, But no cameras. I sent another email asking what kind of macaws they were. I will let you know as soon as I do. Thank you all for watching out for these poor birds, we are so lucky to have such a good family here! Your concern is over whelming, but that's what makes us a great family! FYI. I was told that approx 100 cars go by their house in an average 3 min period, and no one saw anything..........this is a crime/drug ridden city, but I don't believe they live in the bad part, their are some good parts of town.

Not going. Too crazy on that weekend. The place is mobbed....

I found an ad on Craigs List in my area. A person a few towns over was cleaning their house with cleaners, and put their AG & their 2 Macaws in their cages out onto their enclosed porch while they were cleaning. This was on a Sunday in broad daylight. Someone stole their African Grey that they had for 22 years, in their words, the sweetest bird ever! Took the poor thing out of his cage and disappeared. NO neighbors saw anything, the police, well they have other concerns, filed a report, but that is it. I sent a sympathy email to them, offering suggestions to looking for anything, vets, pet stores,other craigs list, etc. Last night, I received an email from them...the thieves came back, threw their Stainless Steel cage that was locked over the porch smashing it with their 2 macaws in it, and stealing them both. God only knows if the macaws are injured. This too was in broad daylight, and once again, the neighbors saw nothing.......police don't seem to care.....the owner was at work. I don't know any more details. The owners are horrifed, distraught, angry, upset, furious, you name it! At any rate, anyone in the MA, CT, NJ, NY, VT, area, please keep your eyes and ears open.....

Dave, if they are anything like my birds...I have to make an extra one for them to share, and it MUST have cheese on it.

My Amazon & 2 greys are allowed onto my shoulder. IF they do anything such as a nip, they are sternly told NO BITES or stop that. If they continue the unwanted behavior, they are sent off. They behave themselves 99% of the time. My amazon behaves 100% of the time... She is now 21/2 years old, had her for 2 years.

Yes, they aren't good for birds, toxic and too large of an opening form the bird to escape and a predator to get thru and grab them, a cats paw is would make that an easy reach......

It is well known that apple seeds contain natural cyanide in them. Not recommended for a parrot to eat if we can help it. I cut up the apple and take out the seeds for my birds.

I agree with Janet! My cag can be as loud as my zon when they are mimicking my scoldings! Lol. A happy bird doesn't have any reason to scream, always talk to my birds so they never find they have to scream to get my attention.

Very nice photos. He's beautiful and seems to really be enjoying himself in the sunshine. I saw you had a chain with beads strung across the cage, please be careful with the chain, poor Talon got her claw stuck in one of those circle links and I had a terrible time rescuing her......I don't use them anymore.

Welcome to our family. Congrats on your new baby coming home soon. There is a lot to read here, I hope you find the time to since you have never had a large parrot before. Greys are a lot like children and have important needs that must be met, as well as attention, ect. The thread you are looking for is a sticky in the Nursery Room, you should be able to find it. Great to hear all went well! I had my vet do the DNA test. He clipped the nail a bit short so it bled a tiny bit....poor Talon had a sore foot for a few days tho.....thought she was a he for a year, then found out he was a she!

Good advice here! Cement perches are irritating and can cause foot problems. A variety like greetings suggested is what I use. I use the ones Judy is talking about near their food bowl.

My situation is like Luvparrots. I have 3 flighted birds who are out all day. They follow me from room to room usually, they just want to be with me. When I want them off, I do a spin on 1 foot and they fly off. I usually say, get off at then same time, they will fly to a perch, tree or boing and see what I am going to do next. It takes a while for them to get that idea, but they do. As far as expecting them to stay where you put them, that most likely will never happen, they are flock creatures, you ARE their flock and it is their instinct to be with you. My 3 like to have quiet time around 12pm or so, they will get very quiet and usually not follow me. Many days I put them I. Their cages in the afternoon so i can go to work or upstairs tom work. They are better behaved when they have that time to themselves. The days iallow them to be out all day, so etimes they get unruly....
