  1. Thank you all, for your kindness. I'll have a question. You may notice the blue circles around his/her eyes. Are those normal or it's due to poor nutrition or stress/fatigue during travel. Because unfortunately he/she had an unpleasant travel from Bulgaria to Turkey as far the guy (first owner) told me.
  2. Hello all, On Sunday our flock expanded to two CAG's now. The adult one is Büdü (Turkish sub for Ernie and Bert's Bert) and now the baby one named Edi (sub for Ernie ). Now we do have the team: Ernie and Bert:DDD We don't know the sex (I plan to send a feather for DNA test later). I guess it's a she because she gets along with me instead of my wife:D We think she's 3.5-4 months old because eyes are nearly black (even in high light) Here is a picture of Edi which I took on Sunday when he just arrived to our home before introducing him/her to his/hers cage.
  3. I was searching on the Internet and I saw a post on a site (just entered 44 minutes before I opened) on Sunday. I called the guy, he explained the situation. The guy has a jewellery shop in Grand Bazaar (one of the oldest shopping mall's in the world - located in Istanbul- very famous and crowded-touristic place) and a friend of his brought him a baby CAG on Friday from Bulgaria. He told me that his wife and his small kids couldn't get along with him /(or her), think about it: From Friday to Sunday the little buddy didn't have even a cage:/// So I got the baby from him. He/she has very dark grey eyes-nearly black- and a very dynamic CAG, likes to swinging. I placed him in the old cage of our family's old CAG (which died a few years ago, we spent 23 years with him) temporarily. After some six months, I'll try to place them into same cage. I have a big cage which my adult CAG only uses the top floor (I located perches like a triplex villa:)) Cage also has 4 feeders so I don't think space will be a problem. I know they should like each other first, and sometimes it works/sometimes it doesnt't but I'll give it a try. He/She's a lucky buddy because here in Turkey we can't find any quality pellet but one of my friends just brought me a package of Harrison's high coarse yesterday which I ordered for my other CAG (who eats nothing but seeds for months-we tried everything but starving - he's very stubborn) . Unfortunately I forgot the package at the office (due to excitement). Today I'll try to feed them both with Harrison's. I'm very curious if they'll eat or not. But the new buddy is curious and likes to (at least trying) new food. I gave him some peaches, some pear and he tried! I was very happy. That's the story. I'll update with some pics today:D I'm open to any advises with the little buddy because I have no experience with a baby CAG. Especially changing their diet to Harrison's pellet.
  4. I now have two CAG's. My latest buddy just joined our little flock yesterday. I don't know the sex but I guess it's a female because it got along with me instead of my wife. Our new buddy is just around 3.5-4 months old - black cute eyes. I'm very excited can't wait to go to home (now I'm in the office) to play with him.
  5. I'm planning to get another african grey. I talked to a guy who claims this one is a young one. I know their eyes start from nearly black to grey in time. He says this buddy's eyes are dark greyish so he's a young one (around a year old) but I couldn't be sure. Could you please help with your comments about it? (If this buddy is an adult or a young one like he claims) You can find a video below: http://uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1408456827&/VID-20140819-WA0002.3gp VID-20140819-WA0002.3gp Thanks in advance for your support. 6. hi everyone. My friend Büdü has a bald spot on his head. He also had it when I bought him (2.5 months ago). The location is just (directly) above his eye and size is less than one inch. The guy I bought said when I was buying it's nothing important and will be gone in 2-3 weeks but it didn't. It didn't spread either, I mean it's still same size so I eliminate the possibility of some kind of parasite, etc. Am I right? What would be the cause of it? I have some guesses: First one is: When travelling to our country (unfortunately) lots of parrots are kept in little wooden boxes so some other parrot's beak or fingers could have done that. Or he hit somewhere before I bought him. Do you have any ideas ? What should I do? We don't have much avian vets nearby so I would like to get your opinions first. (I'll take pictures and update)
  7. Thank yo very much Dave. I guessed something like that as most of other animals can't perceive TV as humans so that's why I asked. I got my answer
  8. I've a question about playing videos from notebook in front of his cage (door open) if it would help me to train him? My first goal is to make him eat fresh veggies and fruits so if I play videos of other African Grey's eating fresh veggies and fruits, would it be helpful? I know some tips that I should eat in front of him, etc. but it doesn't work for us now (I think we still have trust problems so he doesn't see me and my wife as flock members) I played him last night a little and he seemed interested but I'm not sure if it would be good or bad for his psychology so I wanted to ask you guys first. What do you think? What will be his perception of other african greys on the screen?
  9. Yes, ı told my wife he would get rid off it by himself but she was too excited:D

Thanks for the tips. Our former African Grey (passed away a few years ago) was literally eating everything, I think it's a matter of time and trust between us and him. I try to offer him different things in different ways, eat in front of him, etc. Until this week he wasn't even trying but this week he tried some pellets which I waited in some apple juice. I think that's a big progress for him:D
  11. Büdü was caught hands in the sack after destroying one of his toys. The funny thing is the rope stuck to his beak (pictures were sent to me by my wife - I wasn't there) and he was angry because he couldn't get rid off it. I think l'll have to help him with his little beak problem in the evening:D
  12. Experience is everything so Dave is absolutely right. He'll eventually whistle by himself. Our former African Grey (which we lived more than 20 years together since I was a child), was a great talker, singer and whistler. I grow-up with his whistles (I was 1.5 years old when he came to our family - in 1984).His whistles are still in my ears all the time and sometimes I find myself whistling his melodies I really miss him too much:(
  13. " Sometimes, I just sit and watch my beautiful birds, " This part is awesome. I really like to wake-up to his cage noises in the morning. Before him waking up that early wasn't my thing, but now I wake-up like 6 in the morning to watch and interact with him. It's now my daily routine and I really enjoy:D
  14. Thanks murfhck, hw throws them away:) but I'll keep trying.
