  1. Roger's person ended up backing out of the purchase....and we were debating getting him as well, but one day someone came in and took that boy home. We hear that he is doing well....a "regular" bought him. We ask whenever we go in to visit the babies.
  2. Both Loki and Yoshi look like they're doing great! Glad to see you post again...We have Loki's little sister, Zoey (and I mean little - she is only 320g!!). She too is a love sponge, and we have been wondering how Loki and Roger have been doing.....
  3. 12 hours is about right. My flock calls it a night around 7:30 or 8:00, but we uncover them at 6:30-ish before we head off for work. Ours sleep in their own "bird room" though.
  4. Was just going to add this! I have also made one that stands on the floor instead of hanging - simple modification.
  5. Hi Judy! No we do not currently belong to any of the clubs down here.....a couple of years ago we showed up for one of monthly meetings to see about joining Pet Bird Club of Virginia , but as luck would have it, they had cancelled that particular meeting...and we ended up being the only people there! lol!! Maybe we'll give it a try again someday.... Thanks for the welcome everyone!!!!
  6. Several years ago, I had seen a hanging PVC playgym on the internet and thought "I bet I could make that!" and off to the hardware store I went. I think I spent about $50-$60 on materials, not including the toys. I made mine for two birds to share for our family room (~2.5 feet x 3.5 feet)...but it can easily be made any size - I have another smaller one in the computer room. I recently posted a "how-to" on another forum I frequent and a member there asked if she could create a blog containing my instructions, to which I agreed. Here is a link to how I made it: Hanging PVC Playgym I can all but guarantee your fids will love it - all of ours do!! Have fun!!!
  7. Holy smokes those are BIG!!! Not sure how to resize those photos....sorry!!
  8. I've recently joined you all after trying to register for a couple of months....had some real issues getting past the spam checker thing.... Anyhoo -- looking forward to learning alot!! I have had birds my entire life - started with a parakeet, finches and canaries as a boy and worked my way up from there. I've had an Umbrella Cockatoo, Quaker, and a Blue Headed Pionus - all of which are gone now but will never be forgotten. My wife and I currently have three - all of which appear to have come from rotten eggs: Cleo - 18yr old Meyer's Parrot who has ruled the roost since 1995. Bailey - 9yr old Coral Billed Pionus who taught us there is no such thing as a free lunch (he is a rehomed rescue - came to us at age of 6 months in 2004). Zoey - 6 month old African Grey (Congo). This is MY baby!! She is also the sister of another grey I saw here on the forum, Thane.
