  1. Welcome here Glenn and Jacko! What a interesting story about how you got Jacko! Very nice that you didn't gave up on Jacko when only your mom could handle him. Excellent job that you can now pet him, some times, and get him out of his cage. Enjoy the grey forum!!
  2. Maybe not completely related to the grey subject, but the other day i had to hold an cockatiel at my work (as a vet assistant), to give her a little injection in her chestmussle. She somehow got her head sqeaked out of my fingers, and bit me in my indexfinger, but i couldn't let the cockatiel go because she was getting her injection. So for 20 seconds i had a cockatiel trying to bit off my finger... wasn't enjoying it, but throw the years i've started to learn to just "accept" the pain intil someone can get that nails, teeth or bird out of my hands. Kiwi, my grey, wasn't nice to me either today.. we where cuddling for a little while when she decided to want to walk on the railing of the sofa. Instead of just sitting there or walking around, she went on sitting wright behind me, and every 30 seconds biting me in the ear. I thought maybe my hair is anoying her, so i thought the first bit wasn't really meant to bite me. But after a second, and a thirth, and! a fourth time i had enough of it and just put her back in her cage. I don't know if it was here intention of playing but i sure didn't liked it! She didn't bite really hard but i didn't enjoyed it either.
  3. hii! I'm not sure if it is allowed to post here, if not, i'm sorry and just delete it! I'm entering a little contest from the breeder of my little parrot, the only thing you have to do is, for the people who have Facebook, is click on the link, there will apear a picture of my african grey and my dog on the background, and then click on the 'like' button. Thats it! I hope you will give me that little push i need! The contest ends tonight at 24:00 dutch time! Thanks in advance!!
  4. Thanks for the reply! I will give her little boxes to shred and not be afraid of it if she wants. And I will leave to big boxes in other rooms, so she won't be bothered with it! Thanks for the advice! @luvparrots: i've thought about that too, but there isn't a way to find that out. So for now i'll try and let her enjoy little boxes and the big boxes I will keep away from her!
  5. Hello, Since the day we have Kiwi, we found out she is really afraid of cardboard boxes. Because we bought allot of toys and stuff for her we walked around with those boxes, as soon as she sees we are holding a box, she starts jumping around and running away as fast as possible. Offcourse i'm watching out with cardboard boxes now, so i don't spook her. But what would be a good way to learn her that those boxes aren't scary. Should i feed her in it or near it? Or is there a better way? The parrot thing is still a little bit new to us, so i want to help and understand her as best i can! Thanks in advance!
  6. How old is Radar now? Fantastic that he talks so much! Have fun learning more!
  7. Hello, Let's introduce ourselves. My name is Angelique, 21 years old. On my shoulder is sitting my Congo african grey: Kiwi. She is now almost 6 months old. She is our first african grey, before her we had two cockatiels. Because she is our first parrot I probably can't stop learning enough! We live in the Netherlands, but with a lack of good forum I've decided to look elsewhere, so that's how I ended up here! (so sorry if my grammar is not perfect!) Hope to learn allot here! Greetings Angelique, Kiwi (and the dog in the background Bodhi)
