thanks everyone i'm spending a lot of time around him talking to him and sitting around him he is my first parrot ever so this is new to me i have canaries and bunnies and a cat and raised many animals but a parrot is such a special animal and is worth all the effort thanks again

hiii everyone i brought my african grey yesterday he is a male and his name is rio he is 2 and a half years old today i tried to pet him but he didn't let me at first now he only lets me pet his beak nothing else if i even try petting any other part of him he will try to bite so i was wondering when will he trust me and start to really like me and is it ok that he doesn't let me touch him now and one more thing he wont eat his veggies how could i get him to eat veggies and fruits?

wow i'm sorry to hear that, i could just imagine how hard is everything you've been through so i guess it's better safe than sorry I hope the parrot you have now is doing well it's hard to lose a pet you love

I have spent two years saving up to buy an african grey and know after all the hard work after i have enough money the, breader i trust the most tells me there's a virus spreading and all of the parrots are either sick or probably are but it still isn't showing on them :( now i have to wait for god knows how long until I get one that's garenteed to be healthy..... I'm just sooo tired of waiting and sooo pissed off right now

it's amazing how they can relate and feel us they really are more than just birds get them to trust you and love you and you lave them back and they pretty much become a part of you and anyone who hasn't raised a pet as a friend and really did love him/her would probably think this is crazy talk or some kind of obsession or something

ok everyone so why don't everyone share what his parrots name is, I'm getting one this week so I haven't picked out a name yet I'll post his name the minute I name him but until then let's see what you named your little feathered friend and does he know you're talking to him when you call his name or answer back to you?;):)

I just love your cages they're not too crowded like most of the ones i see =)

hhhh that's adorable they can be very messy and can sometimes drive you crazy but they're worth it

I'm getting my african grey this week and I am soooooo excited I have been reading a lot about taking good care of these amazing pets and I've read that they should take a bath every day so how do i get my african grey to take a bath and he's still not used to me and everything is new to him or should i wait until he gets familiar with me until i give him his first bath :confused::confused: I'm getting him 6 months old just old enough for him to eat on his own.:cool: and thx
