  3. Hello, we have two 18 year old African Greys that we have been in possession since 2002 . They were caged together initially and we named them Sonny and Cher. Cher was terrified of me in the beginning but after a couple of years of patience and nurturing she loves being with me. Sonny is more temperamental and he likes to dance to music but he gets moody sometimes. We have 2 cocker spaniels and they get along great with the birds as did our other spaniels that have since passed. Our birds are in good health and get a variety of foods . Cher loves mash potatoes and Sonny loves pasta. They both enjoy scrambled egg and chicken . Well that’s all I’ve got to say for now 😁 Thanks Colin

  4. It saddens us greatly that only 3 members responded in more than 2 days.....A wish is just a moment of time and the time we have in our lives is but a fleeting moment. In the passing second, I said a prayer for each of your health and happiness. We lost a moment but we gain so much more. I love you all so much. Rev. Jayd

  8. Most parrots in the wild are quite familiar with getting high (pun intended)...besides just by flying. My concern is not what he ate but how much...in the wild, parrots eat fermented fruits, berries and foods. Some actually seek it out and make it part of their staples. A vet is the best route....we send our prayers. Jayd and Maggie

  9. I don't have any advice other than what's already been offered. Just posting to say I hope your bird is ok and recovers fully!

  10. Sleeping it off is the best thing for him, but you should at least call a vet and ask, it’s a large amount considering his size

  17. I hope you paid with a credit card for the broken one. I'd resolve it through them. They always referee in favor of the buyer if you have any evidence.

  22. How frustrating when companies don't stand behind their products.

  23. Oh that's unfortunate. Hopefully you manage to get it sorted and they send a replacement bulb!

  24. Ok...received the light today with a broken bulb, and the USA Distributor did not want to replace the bulb as he said he has had nothing but but issues with broken bulbs in these. I have emailed the company directly and waiting to hear back from them.

  28. This is the bulb I use: https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-24975-Compact-Fluorescent/dp/B000KH9S88/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1539033229&sr=8-4&keywords=avian+sun+lamp I have this cheap floor lamp, which has lasted since 2013. It seems very cheap, but it has really held up well considering. https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-AvianSun-Deluxe-Floor/dp/B006L49LHC/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1539033375&sr=8-15&keywords=zoomed+lamp The one SR posted above looks nice.

  29. This is one of the best light setups I've seen: http://www.arcadia-bird.com/e27-compact-lighting-unit/ Lots of people use the ZooMed I mentioned earlier but the stand it comes with is tall and susceptible to getting knocked around. Our's lastest barely a month before the light was hanging out of the unit from getting bounced around. That arcadia site has other options available too.

  33. Sunlight isn't possible for us but I do the full spectrum avian light every day. It is important. Sure glad to hear she is better!

  34. Sunlight is critical. It's the reason I built an outdoor aviary for them. Lots of people use the one by Zoomed. Just make sure it's an avian full spectrum light and not a general reptile light. I have also seen where people have ruined their birds eyes even with the avian light by allow exposure to close. Sunlight is best if you can do it.

We are going to continue to keep giving her time outside daily and we are going to get her a UVB light as well! Do any of you use them...If so which do you use? Thank you for all your help and support She has her follow up vet appointment today... Sunlight Seems CRITICAL...To these guys and gals !

  36. Hello, I have had my grey for over 22 years. Last evening he ate a dime size amount or less of marijuana. I wasn't happy but it didn't occur to me it would hurt him. Then I noticed he was lethargic, quiet and a little wobbly. It scared me to death. As soon as I picked him up (stepped up on my finger) he regurgitated fluid and pieces of the pot. He continued to seem sleepy and then before bed he perked up slightly and was drinking water but not eating. This morning he is much better, he ate his breakfast fine and was a little more alert but is STILL DOZING. I live in cow country and the vets here don't do chickens much less a parrot. Has anyone experienced this or could please tell me how to help my boy??? I DO NOT IN ANY WAY FIND THAT HE DID THIS FUNNY. Any information I would be grateful for. Thank you
