carolz7 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 This is a dog toy i bought at Petsmart and added my blocks etc.
Luvparrots Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Your fids are so lucky!!! I hope they appreciate all these great toys.
judygram Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 This is a great looking toy Carol, I bet your mind is full of ideas, how you take ordinary stuff that others would never think of and make such creations for your birds to play with, amazing.
carolz7 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Ahhhh thank you, you are so kind. I call it being frugal, since birds can put you in the poor house you cannot keep buying at the inflated prices. When you start making toys you realize how much these company's profit from us. I don't mind spending money on toys that last but most of them do not with the bigger birds.
judygram Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 So did you buy some 2 x 4's and cut them up in pieces and shapes and then colored them with non toxic dyes and drilled holes in them to hang them up with other stuff to make toys? I hate paying good money for toys and then having them tear them up in no time but you sure have come up with some good ideas. I agree that the companys are making a killing off these toys they sell just simply because they are for birds, they can charge more. I have some pieces off some of the toys that Josey tore up that I am going to see what I can do with them to make her some new ones.
carolz7 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Yes i bought one 2 x4 and two i think it is 1 x 1 and just cut them up, drilled holes and then used the vitta critter colors on them. As you can see from my post yesterday i must have made a ka-zillion toys from this little lumber. I still have soo many blocks left over that i just added them to there buckets for foot toys.
