I brought my very 1st parrot (CAG) home yesterday:D His prev owner gave me a bag of seed and that is what he's been eating for 6 years. I stopped at a store on our way home to buy some toys and also bought a bag of Harrisons High Potency pellets. He eats them if I soak them in coconut water... I would like to weed out the seed so should I mix the seed w/ the pellets or just have 2 seperate bowls and offer less and less seed over time?

Please have a look in the bird food room for what you should be offering your grey, seed and pellets alone just won't cut it. They should have plenty of vegetables preferably fresh, some fruits, grains, legumes, rice and/or pastas, some meat preferably chicken or fish and some nuts and of course some seed. I put pellets in one bowl, seeds and nuts in another and fresh foods in another bowl so she has 3 bowls in her cage, I leave some of the pellets and seeds and nuts in her bowl at all times and remove the fresh after a couple of hours.
