bbrew5 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Is it ok if grey eats night crawlers? He accidently got a part of one, so far no side affects. Would this be ok to give him every couple of days?
Shelly Yokum Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 that is a good question. I wouldn't think it would hurt, but I would wait on someone else with the answer. Val ate a cricket, and that didn't bother her, I am sure they get all kinds of bugs and things in the wild.
bbrew5 Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 Thats what i thought to, they come across all kinds of bugs and such in the wild. But not sure.
Dave007 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 In my part of the country, night crawlers are large worms ( 4 to 6 in) that fishermen constantly use. So, if you're talking about that then it's no good to give. As far as insects, what's so important or exciting about giving bugs? Bugs are good for lizards and other reptiles. That's their staple food. Greys may eat insects ( not many) in the wild but they don't eat worms.
Shelly Yokum Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 thanks Dave , I knew you would have the answer
JeffNOK Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I'm glad to hear I won't have to go dig up night crawlers for my grey when I get him/her. I used to have a garter snake as a child that fed on them. Wasn't very appetizing to watch him consume them.
