Feathers?

I was cleaning up around my greys cage today, I noticed a few white small what looked like down feathers. My baby is around 4 months old, should I be concerned?

 

I checked her and I didn't see any noticeable holes in her feathers. I've been keeping a close eye on her and I haven't seen any feather plucking, are these just "dead" feathers falling out while she is growing up?

It is molting time (winter), so it's probably just her preening herself. I wouldn't worry unless she starts to pull whole feathers.

Thanks for the reply ecodweeb, it is summer here in Cape Town at the moment but like you say I don't think it's anything to worry about

I have had lots of small white down feathers since day one. I think it is part of the territory with greys.

You find them everywhere - molting season or no molting season! You chase them round the house with the hand held hoover - it's a bit of a grey owner's sport

I heard one owner refer to them as tumbleweeds. It may be a long time before you see a real feather on the floor, but you'll fill a pillowcase with those tumbleweeds in a year.
