I am really depressed, do not know what to do. I was planning to come home at the end of the year. I was told by both Expat Americans and local Kuwait's that there was no problem bringing your parrot home. I am pretty early planner, so I started doing some research on permits and shots and what not and found this. ADVISORY: Until further notice, live avian commodities (including eggs for hatching) from the following countries or regions have been prohibited entry to the United States due to the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza: Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cambodia, Djibouti, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire), Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Autonomous Territories, People's Republic of China, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, South Sudan, Sudan, Taipei Chinese/Taiwan, Thailand, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Does anyone have any idea how long this will be in effect? I have not been able to find any answers on the web. Hoping someone here has some experience .......so depressed argh...

The Gabriel Foundation Can anyone shed some life on them? I looked the website over, and it looks legit. Has anyone had any experience dealing with them? I wanted to sponsor a parrot, but C.A.R.E. doesn't seem have a program, just a one time shot donation.

Just a quick update, Talon and others had mentioned the mobile device issue where it does not work. It is now Apple and Android compatible. You can also upload pictures and videos directly from your device. (on apple devices you have to go to the "PC Site" by hitting the button in the top left corner to upload videos or pictures in the manner already described. The skin for Apple only supports viewing) If you are using Apple, there is a tricky conversion process after it is uploaded, so essentially it has to encode twice. The bottom line is the cron job runs every ten min, so a video will not be available for viewing on an apple device for between 1 and 10 min after uploading. Androids are immediate. Current videos are all available immediately. I'm still tweaking this for the Apple side (Difficult) so if the color scheme is off in some places please forgive me, I am working on it, but it is functional.

Well, I am going to see about sponsoring one of these guys, it is just sad, and what is worse is they dont do that in the wild, so it is human fault.....

I know this is an old thread, but OMG, I went to the website and looked at some of the Greys up for adoption...... Some of them so badly plucked you couldn't possibly understand how it could get soo bad. I thought about sponsoring one. Is there any hope for these guys to regain a normal life again? Get a few feathers back and gain some weight, or are they scarred permanently? Thats all I can really say OMG!

I discovered that Sukei likes to hear herself and talk back as long as she hears it playing. Found this out when showing a video to someone that had the audio turned up, She really seems to enjoy it and wont stop chattering till the video stops. Each time I do it, she adds to dialog with a new type sound. Is this a bad thing to do with her? ANY time you fire off audio she immediately starts to talk back to herself. I checked if it was just parrot chatter in general by running some audio of a different parrot, and she doesn't utter a peep, just to her own. Scratching my head on this one???

It finally happened today. It is my day off and I try to spend most of it with the Wife and Sukei. The wife and I were giving her the usual shower. Afterwards we brought the cage with her on top to the window to dry in the sunlight (Usual Routine) I thought I would try and get her to step up, but it turns out step up was the problem.... It was more like back down LOL. I put my hand behind her and just gently lifted up. There she was siting on my hand..... She looked at me and I looked at her both of us in shock I think LOL. Lasted about 30 seconds because I did not want to spook her, I moved to the perch and she got off......the ride was over

I'm just glad it looks like it is easy enough to understand. The system is very tolerant. It will use just about any video format.
