  1. She's so pretty!
  2. My heart goes out to you. I never understood the connection that could develop between myself and an angry and terrified African Grey until I took Timber from someone wanting to rehome him because he wasn't "adjusting." The bond is indescribable unless you've experienced it. I find myself praying that he outlives me (I'm 68) because I don't know how I'd deal with his loss. I have no words, but my heart bleeds for you. God bless.
  3. Boxes are Timber's favorite thing in the world. I have a hard time keeping enough of the right size to stay ahead of his shredding addiction. Love the pic. Typical sibling behavior!
  4. Good to see signs of life! I try to check every day. I'm sad that this forum, which provided so much support and information to me, when I was a first time parrot servant, is now so inactive. It is what it is there. I'll keep hanging in there as long as I am able. Sorry to hear you are still playing the bite game. They certainly have minds of their own, and Timber's behavior at times still baffles me, though I'm sure he'd tell me he has good reason. Recently, He took a swipe at me for no reason and out of nowhere. That hadn't happened in a few years. I actually thought of the problems you had expressed and though "uh oh" but it did seem to pass. I don't post often because things are much the same as ever with Timber and I don't have as many questions as I once did.
  5. I've thought many times about getting another. I have the space, but time? Timber wants my undivided attention. I can't imagine how he'd react if I introduced another bird to the household. And, I'm 68. As others have mentioned, there is the concern about what till happen to any birds I may have when I level up.
  6. I got Timber (TAG) in 2012. He was "thought to be" 6 or 7 when I took him. I'm not sure how many previous homes he was in, but at least two. So, based on assumptions, he would be about 20 now.
  7. Merry Christmas to all my bird loving friends from Timber and his family/staff here. I hope you all have a joyous Christmas season and a prosperous New Year!
  8. Yes it is scary how time flies. Especially when you are watching it in your children or your pets! I'm not fond of watching it in the mirror
  9. Timber will be 20 soon also, at least if we were given the right age when we got him (6). I really have little in confidence in that, not really knowing how many previous owners he had. I just go with it though since it's all we have. We celebrate his hatchday on July 4, since we don't know that either.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends here from Timber and myself. It's been a hard year with the passing of a couple of very close family members, but there is much to be grateful for. Timber had his annual checkup at the avian vet and everything looked good. His meds are controlling his seizures, and his weight is stable. Wishing you and years a blessed Thanksgiving and a joyous upcoming Christmas season!
  11. I also check daily and will let you know now that I have the email. Thanks for all you do!
  12. Happy BirdDay Talon!
  13. That's a great setup! So glad you found the cage.
  14. I'm fortunate there. I only have one bird so don't have to worry about harmony on an obnoxious sound. Timber's worst is the smoke alarm. He doesn't do it at full volume there so it is bearable, though confusing sometimes if you are in another room. Is it the detector or Timber? His loudest is his "alert" which I believe is common to all parrots. It's annoying but I don't hear it often.
  15. Wow, wish there was something like that in my area! There isn't to my knowledge. It looks like you got a nice haul of stuff too. We used to have a "bird fair" about 1.5 hours away I went to ever year. Not as large, but I could pick up all kinds of goodies. It has disappeared though. Glad Alfie did OK in the hotel. I've always thought Timber would be OK as long as we were there with him. He's pretty adaptable if he can see his "people." To locations anyway, toys not so much He still takes take warming up to any new toy or cage addition. Glad you had a good time and enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for sharing!
  16. What a sweetheart! Amazing about his language skills. Timber gets it right once in awhile, but often seems to talk just for the sake of talking. My son's girlfriend said she came down to the kitchen after bedtime to get a bottle of water. It was dark. When she opened the refrigerator door, Timber said "Watcha doing?" She got a kick out of that.
  17. What a story and what a blessing that you have him back! I can imagine Gracie's reaction. Hope the vet visit goes well.
  18. Beautiful birds! I love seeing pictures.
  19. Wow, what a reunion! So glad you are getting Odie, and glad you found the cage.
  20. We are all good here at Timber's house! Alfie takes a beautiful picture. You are blessed that he isn't change averse. Timber gets a mad-on when I change the color of my nail polish, ha. Good to hear from everyone!
  21. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how you feel, though I remember how I felt when I rushed Timber to the avian vet and didn't expect him to survive the night. People who do not own a parrot don't understand the special connection we develop with them. I've had and loved many pets over my many years, but until Timber I didn't understand the special connection I developed with him that I hadn't experienced before. I'm sure you will grieve, just as we do when we lose a close family member. There will probably be harder days and easier days, and hopefully at some point you can begin remember the joy your bond brought Brutus and you more often than the crushing weight of loss. God bless, my prayers are with you.
  22. Wow, I had no idea they weren't making them anymore! That is Timber's full time cage (per vet) since he is not considered handicapped. I'd better take better care of it. I'll keep my eyes open.
  23. Wow, so glad Jako survived! I wish I had an answer but I don't. I would keep trying to tempt him with things he likes. I might even try feeding him cooked sweet potato or some other thin foods by syringe to whet his appetite. Other than that, no ideas! Good luck
  24. Happy New Year to my friends here on the forum! Hope everyone is well. We are currently in the ice/snow/cold misery of the midwest, but this too shall pass. I miss hearing from many of you, but still appreciate that this forum is still here! God bless you one and all.
  25. Yes! Look at him standing proud on there. Timber won't step up on anything but my arm (and only in the hoodie). Good for you!
