My Nilah will be 15 years old next month. She does not like to be filmed as you can see by the end, but I managed to get her anyways. Just wanted to share, she can be such a love, but also a brat at times..but we go with the flow in my house! She gets the upmost respect from us all when her moods arise..LOL 20230316_175111.mp4

I find myself praying that he outlives me (I'm 68) because I don't know how I'd deal with his loss. Yes, but how will he deal with your loss.. that to me is much harder as he will never understand where you went...:( That to me breaks my heart

My sincere condolences, You have been thru a world of emotions, ups & downs with him I can only imagine. What a sad beginning he had, but you loved him into the wonder he was. Thank you for coming back here for our support in this terrible time. God Bless you & I pray for healing.

Give yourself a big pat on the back Kevin, you have done this place right & really kept us up & running when the cancer we had was running ramped here..it would have pulled us under if it wasnt for you & all your dedication & hard work. ❤️

Hey..Nice to hear from you both! I , too am sad that such a forum with the incredible knowledge, resources & experience is barely going. I do check in daily, but don't log in if there is no activity, but I do see this place most days. Sorry to hear of the biting & grumpiness, but you are so wonderful to just go with the flow..most owners wouldn't, kudos to you Kevin! My 3 are still going the same, Talon is addicted to boxes. She gets an empty box on the counter when she gets out & immediately runs inside it..Rikki ( who has never had a desire before) tho has taken to annoying Talon when she's in it & they do argue over it. I try to get another box so they both have one..but of course like children it's not the same. They fight over the 1 box or sometimes it's a bag. NO one gets hurt, but sometimes Rikki pushes the bag or box onto the floor & Talon takes a tumble inside, but it's not far & she doesnt get hurt...just her feelings. With my 3, I work full time, so the very minute i get home, I immediately let them all out of their cages for the remainder of the evening until bedtime. The weekends are their time out also, ALL day no matter what on Sundays, Saturdays they get out as soon as I am done with my morning errands. My 3 don't really like each other that much, they tolerate each other, so they keep their distance. Rikki is the biggest & she is the queen of the totem pole, next is my amazon Nilah, then last is Talon she is the smallest. Talon will occasionally annoy NIlah and chase her thru the house, I think they do it for fun but when Nilah has had enough she flies to my shoulder for safety...sometimes NIlah will try & take Talons space, but I have a spray bottle in case they get in a tuffle over that. I wish had more time with them, but I try & make sure the time I have I pay alot of attention to them .

I am so sorry..how tragic..Do you have any currently? I am 65, so my bird life started late as well.

For those of us that are still here & hanging on...I think we should re-group & remind all of us our fids & their ages..I could go back & do a search, but I thought it would be cool to have a place to just look at for the few if us left. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Sorry to hear of your losses Karen. It is always harder during the holidays as we miss those who we have lost. It is great to hear from everyone here! I cant believe it, I got them both when they were very young..seems like yesterday!

Yes, she gets a cut up waffle for breakfast, all my parrots do..yes I know it's not the healthiest..but they love them and I do now worry about keeping them alive for 40-60years, since I will die way sooner & I have no one to take them....I let them enjoy their small treats if they love them as long as I am not poisoning them..

This crazy waffle box girls turns 20 years old today!! We got her flown from Florida to Massachusetts via Delta all by herself at 4 months old :/...anyways she did great & it is really hard to believe it has been 20 years. She is the reason I joined this site 20 years ago. Without her, I probably wouldn't be here. This is our family no matter what..even if it is only a small few of us.

Ha Ha, I am glad I am not the only one! Once 1 starts..they go back & forth getting louder as they go. God forbid they hear a smoke alarm on a tv show! Then my house has nonstop smoke alarm sounds...seeing as the owner before me hard wired 11 alarms that go off at different times ..I can never tell if its my greys or a real thing! OR it is my ADT alarm system... Long story short, one of my greys Talon, has her own cage in my bedroom just for sleeping..On Sunday mornings when my husband & I don't have to get up early for work...it's sleep in day..Talon even tho she is covered KNOWS the usual early wake up to go to work time..she starts her whistles..soon my grey downstairs hears her. Then is becomes a contest of mimicking each other louder & louder..back & forth for quite some time...UGH!

Oh, I am so jealous! That looks super cool! Alfie seemed to enjoy it. I am someone who can't stand to see parrots outside loose like that. I don't care if they have Clipped wings ( which I am very much against) IT scares me to see..Thanks for sharing, I loved the pictures! Looks like so much fun!

OMG! HE sounds like such a little adorable stinker! LOL I LOVE it! I NEVER thought to take any of my greys outside while I garden! I think I will start that tho! Great idea!!

HI ! I check in but when I dont see any new posts, I dont log in. I appreciate everyone checking in here! My Nilah turned 16 last week. No special presents for her. She is celebrated and spoiled every day..so.I did sing happy birthday to her, but she didnt care! My flock is good, of course with springtime, my amazon is yelling her head off, but this too shall pass. Here is a few updated pics! I rarely get the 3 together in 1 pic, so I am happy with that one!
