  1. I recently had my African Grey at the Vets cause she chewed off 2 wing feathers. She was sedated and had to have the shafts removed as she seemed to be in pain. I came home with pain relief and all was good. Recently we’ve had an excavator digging behind our house for a new one to be built. My girl Matilda has been really stressed so we’ve been spending more time with her at the front of our house away from the scary noises. Yesterday she chewed off another 2 large wing feathers but this time the remaining feather Shafts aren’t bothering her. Just want to know if she’s as happy as she normally is and not in any pain will the Shafts fall out or moult out by themselves ?Cheers, Steve 🦜😃

  3. Ah that sucks. I'm thankful that Alfie doesn't pick the paint off his cage because the alternatives are SO much more expensive. However, if I did find any rust or defects, he'd be getting a replacement. Good news that you have one to hand... and that it's identical.

  4. Ah poor thing, unfortunately they are quite susceptible to stress and can be quite change adverse. I think you're doing all the right things, just trying to keep her calm and away from all the noise. It may be a case of just monitoring her and seeing how she goes for the time being. Ive not really had an issue with Alfie barbering his own feathers before so can't help on that one unfortunately.

  5. My birds seem to readily chip away at the paint whenever they can. So frustrating. Wish there were alternatives besides switching over to all stainless steel cages. That would break the bank in my household, as we have 13.
