  4. Thanx for the good wishes, it was a very stressful time at the Vets but just having my Girl here right now and do happy makes it all worthwhile. These birds are truly beautiful creatures. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  5. Thank you for the update. I am so glad she got to come home. It certainly sounds like a good report and that your girl is on the mend now. Good luck with the pain meds -- but you've done so much for her, I'm sure the meds will go fine too. Bless her little heart, and again, so glad she's home! Sending a bunch of healing vibes and good wishes to your Matilda!

  7. I explained everything that was going on with Matilda to the Vet. The Vet believed it probably started with a damaged feather she tried to remove but unsuccessful. She then decided to try and remove the same one on the other side which had nothing wrong with it was just Matilda wanting her wings to be the same both sides. The Vet said that me having over 2 weeks with her then going back to work would have really stressed her and thrown her out of a routine she became very comfortable with. Apart from that the Vet did a poop sample and all clear. The Vet also said sheโ€™s in perfect condition and I should be proud to own such a beautiful Parrot. I told the Vet I feel honoured and blessed to have her, sheโ€™s my girl. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿ‘

  8. Easier for me to google hunt than to dig through my livejournal , and that lead me back into this forum here here // Dommie at Omer//kitties// Riamfada and 3 turns on dime https://shanlung.livejournal.com/118669.html I write a lot now in Facebook. Especially as I finally accepted my friend Charles begging me to take his grey in Sep 2019 That poor grey spend all her life at end of chain, at least 12 years. For 5 years, she attacked and bite the first keeper until she was sold for a song to Charles. Who then was attacked and biten for another five years until he begged me just to take her. I did not want to as I knew well the responsiblity I got to take, and no travelling to Taiwan and other parts of the world. Only when C19 hit us as I knew travelling days over, that I accept the grey in July this year. And that was when I gave her the name of Vorna, the good witch of Rigante world and she was the first to see Riamfada running to the ancient tree. Vorna bite and nailed me most painfully in her first 2 months as I fought the battle for her heart and mind. And she decided me and my wife do not deserved the biting and nailing and became sweet to us, sweeter to my wife. And at end of September 2020, Vorna was on my shoulder and did not chomp my ear off https://www.facebook.com/shanlung/posts/10158787964993421 Vorna was brutally clipped in asymmetrical way and I hoping for her to molt and regain her gift of flight. Wish us luck

  9. Thank you! I accidently got back into this forum as I was hunting down the URL for the first visit of Dommie to Omer. 10. Is she home or staying at the vet's office? Glad the vet is going to remove them and give her some comfort. Any other feathers affected to be aware of or was it limited to 2? Also, what does the vet think caused this to happen?

  11. Matilda had to have surgery to remove both of her remaking feather shafts which were full of blood and a lot of swelling around the base of each one. The vets is gunna give me pain relief for her for the next few days. So glad the Vet can help her. Hate seen her suffer. Iโ€™m sure she will be back to normal soon. ๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘

  14. Please do let us all know how the vet visit goes. I am kicking myself for not getting more information from you. This thread began like a one-off picked feather to so many other possible issues going on with her. Be sure to let your vet know everything that has happened so he will have more information to go on! Fingers crossed for a good vet report!!!

  15. I wish I had asked more questions in your feather plucking thread! Every time you post there is new relevant information. So, she's moulting, had a run in with a ladder AND there have been changes at home. And she turns out to be a youngster. I'm glad she's going to the vet-- that's a LOT of stuff going on that could influence her feather chewing: from being uncomfortable in her moult, to her possibly trying to repair a feather injury herself, to even a possible behavioural issue with you suddenly not being home all day. And it could be a combo of 2 or all three things going on at once. Like, wow. Please, be sure to mention ALL these factors to your vet so he has full information to start with! Hoping for a really good vet diagnosis. Bless your little girl!

  16. After reading your post Iโ€™m definitely going into the Vets with my girl. Iโ€™ll also be concentrating on more toys and things for her to chew and shred. Ide been off work for 2 weeks over Xmas spending most of my time with her and now Iโ€™m back at work sheโ€™s very clingy when I get home. Iโ€™m starting to wonder if so much time with my girl might also have contributed to her feathers been chewed. Anyways, Iโ€™m sure she will be feeling much better after todayโ€™s visit and fingers crossed this feather chewing wonโ€™t ever happen again. I hope I do end up been her knight in shining armour when I rescue her from the Vet. Ide much prefer been her hero than her lunch. Thanx again for all your help. Cheers, Steve ๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  17. Thanx, itโ€™s a question I just had to ask. Will be there with her today and let you know the outcome. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  18. Unless the vet advises against it, I stay with my parrots. And when the vet is through, I become the hero. It's a rescue scenario -- mean vet does stuff to this poor little parrot - but -- then her loving wonderful human 'rescues' her from the vet. Can't promise it always works that way, but with my guys, that was nearly always the case. Mine literally clung to me for snuggles after the vet exam, while shooting evil looks at the vet! Your girl should associate most of the bad experience to the vet and the office with strange smells. You will likely be her hero... and if for some reason you aren't -- she'll just have to get over the experience at home while you pamper her. (Hoping she won't come home with medicine or wound cleanings -- that won't win you any points!)
